Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In how many movies did Marilyn appear in, credited or not (not counting her last, un-released movie)?

Answer: 30

Her career lasted for fourteen years. Credited, even though a few times as a nameless character, she was in twenty-six movies. She appeared in four movies uncredited: "The Shocking Miss Pilgrim" (1947), "Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay!" (1948) aka "Summer Lightning" (1948), "A Dusky Ledoux Ticket to Tomahawk" (1950), and "Right Cross" (1950).
2. What was the name of her character in the movie "Some Like It Hot"?

Answer: sugar kane

She says in the movie that her original name was Sugar Kolosevic. "Some Like It Hot" was finished in 1959, and was Marilyn's most popular movie ever (in tickets-sold).
3. What was the name of Marilyn's last, un-released movie?

Answer: Something's Got To Give

There is some footage of it existing. Marilyn was supposed to do her very first nude scene in this film, but as she died, the film was never finished. She was actually fired by the director, George Cukor, a few times during the filming, but was always hired up. It was re-done in 1963, under the title of "Move Over, Darling" and starring Doris Day and James Garner.
4. Marilyn was credited in three movies as a nameless character.

Answer: True

This happened in three movies. They were "Love Happy", "O'Henry's Full House" and, quite surprisingly, "The Seven Year Itch".
5. In the 1952 movie "Don't Bother To Knock", she played a __________ ?

Answer: babysitter

Her character was called Nell Forbes and she was, er, insane. It was often said to be Marilyn's best part.
6. In the movie "The Misfits" she starred with which childhood-crush?

Answer: Clark Gable

This was, sadly, both Marilyn's and Gable's last movie. The movie was finished in 1961, and Gable died of a heart attack shortly afterwards. Marilyn was concerned that she had caused the accident by being late on the set and otherwise difficult, but a phone call to Clark's wife, who assured that she had nothing to worry about, seemed to calm her down.
7. In which of her movies was she an executive producer, though an un-credited one?

Answer: The Prince And The Showgirl

She starred in the movie with Laurence Olivier, who also directed the movie. The movie premiered in 1957.
8. With which "Let's Make Love" co-star was Marilyn rumoured to be romantically involved with?

Answer: Yves Montand

They were rumoured to have been an item, to the jealousy of Marilyn's then-husband, Arthur Miller. Miller and Monroe divorced the year the movie was made, 1960.
9. What was the first movie where Marilyn was credited?

Answer: Dangerous Years

She appeared in "The Shocking Miss Pilgrim" the same year, 1947, but was uncredited. In 1948, she appeared uncredited in "Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay!" and as Peggy Martin in "Ladies Of The Chorus", the same year. Her character in "Dangerous Years" was named Evie.
10. What was Marilyn's character's problem in the 1953 movie "How To Marry A Millionare"?

Answer: She could hardly see without glasses

This generated many funny scenes as Pola (Marilyn's character) didn't want men to see her with glasses, and she went knocking her head on walls and doors.
11. How many musical numbers did Marilyn sing in the 1948 movie "Ladies Of The Chorus"?

Answer: Three

They were "Every Baby Needs A Da-Da-Daddy" and "Anyone Can Tell I Love You". She can also be heard singing in the opening song.
12. In the 1953 movie "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", Marilyn's character Lorelei Lee says "I just love finding new places to wear diamonds!". What is this new item she adores so much?

Answer: A tiara

The tiara belongs to Lady Beekman.
13. What song does Marilyn's character Cherie perform in the 1956 movie "Bus Stop"?

Answer: That Old Black Magic

It was originally performed by Frank Sinatra, Marilyn's friend and favourite male artist.
14. What was Marilyn's last completed movie?

Answer: The Misfits

It was completed in 1961, a year before her death. The screenplay was by her then-husband, Arthur Miller.
15. In which movie appeared the very famous scene where Marilyn's skirt is blown up?

Answer: The Seven Year Itch

Actually, it's not shown completely. Marilyn decided only to let the camera shoot her legs, as she couldn't find panties that didn't show through. The movie was finished in 1955.
