After graduating from Vassar College with a BA in 1971, Meryl Streep got her MFA degree at Yale in 1975. She also received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Dartmouth College in 1981. Her first film role was in "Julia" (1977) and in 1978 she starred in "The Deer Hunter" for which she was nominated for an Oscar. She has starred in many highly regarded movies including "Out of Africa" (1985), "The Bridges of Madison County" (1995), and "The Devil Wears Prada" (2006). Her portrayal of Margret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady" (2011) earned her an Oscar.

Hugh Laurie joined the Cambridge Footlights whilst at university and there met Stephen Fry with whom he formed a comedy duo. Shown on the BBC "A Bit of Fry & Laurie" (1987-1995) was a comedy sketch show and was very successful in the UK. His role of Dr. Gregory House in the television show "House" (2004-2012) won him two Golden Globes.
