Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What part of Bucky's body is bionic?

Answer: His left arm

Bucky first appears as the Winter Soldier in the fifth volume of "Captain America", issue #1, which went on sale in 2005. He's seen at the very end of the issue, shooting and killing the Red Skull. Bucky lost his arm because he was caught in an explosion toward the end of World War II.
2. How did Bucky find out Captain America's secret identity?

Answer: He saw Rogers changing into the costume

After this incident, Captain America accepts Bucky as his partner and trains him to fit the role. Their partnership began in the third and fourth issues of "Captain America Adventures", debuting in 1942.
3. Both Bucky and Captain America were members of the Invaders. Whom did they fight on their first mission?

Answer: Master Man

Appearing as part of the team in "Giant-Size Invaders" #1, debuting in June of 1975, the duo fought Master Man alongside the first Human Torch, his ward Toro, and the Sub-Mariner. Master Man was actually Wilhelm Lohmer, who gained powers by using a variation of the Super Soldier serum. Lohmer first appeared in the same issue.
4. Before he was frozen alive, what did Captain America believe happened to Bucky?

Answer: Captain America thought he died in an explosion

Captain America and Bucky were attempting to defuse a Nazi drone plane loaded with explosives, but failed. The plane exploded, seemingly killing Bucky and hurtling Captain America into the freezing waters of the Arctic. He was later found by the Avengers, and this event was recounted in the fifty-sixth issue of "Avengers", debuting in 1968.
5. The Russians found a preserved Bucky.

Answer: True

General Vasily Karpov, commanding a Russian patrol submarine, found a one-armed Bucky frozen by the cold Arctic water. Taking the amnesiac young man into his custody, Bucky was outfitted with a bionic arm and made into an assassin. This event was recounted in the eleventh issue of the fifth volume of "Captain America".
6. During his tenure as the Winter Soldier, Bucky killed many people. Which US city did he terrorize?

Answer: Philadelphia

This attack killed hundreds of people and was an attempt to charge the powerful Cosmic Cube, a device which can alter reality and can be used by anyone. The Cosmic Cubes first appeared in "Tales of Suspense" #79, which went on sale in 1966.
7. Whom did Bucky consider responsible for Steve Rogers' death?

Answer: Tony Stark

Rogers died at the end of the Superhuman Civil War, as seen in the twenty-fifth issue of the fifth volume of "Captain America", which went on sale in 2007. An enraged and redeemed Winter Soldier plans to kill Stark, but instead takes up Captain America's mantle.
8. In a letter from beyond the grave, what does Rogers ask for Bucky?

Answer: That someone save him

In the thirty-second issue of the fifth volume of "Captain America", which went on sale in October of 2007, Tony Stark reveals to Bucky that Rogers wanted two things in the event of his demise: someone to "save" Bucky and also for someone to assume the Captain America mantle.
9. What sets Bucky apart from the original Captain America?

Answer: He carries a gun

Bucky is extremely skilled with firearms from his days as the Winter Soldier. In "Captain America" volume 5, issue 34, which went on sale in 2008, he uses the gun to shoot agents of the criminal A.I.M. organization in the knees.
