Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which Las Vegas hotel/casino built a special theater to host "LOVE"?

Answer: The Mirage

The theater at The Mirage was built specifically to present "LOVE". According to Alan R. Hills, company manager for "LOVE", in June 2005, the theater had "dirt floors and no back wall". The show's preview opening was held on June 2, 2006.
2. What is the predominant color in the advertising for "LOVE"?

Answer: Yellow

The top floors of the host hotel/casino's exterior are awash with a can't-miss, brightly lit yellow "LOVE" scheme. Full-page ads in local magazines show a swirly yellow background with four red human silhouettes cavorting on and about the word "LOVE". To see this and learn more about the show, visit: http://www.thebeatles.com/hub/love/site/.
3. "LOVE"'s origins are rooted in the friendship of Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté with which Beatle?

Answer: George Harrison

"LOVE" was dreamt up in discussions in 2000, and after George Harrison died of cancer at age 58 in 2001, the project continued, and the numerous parties involved in negotiating terms and rights eventually came to agreements... hooray!
4. Which pair shared the title of "Musical Director" for "LOVE"?

Answer: Sir George Martin and his son Giles Martin

Sir George Martin signed The Beatles to EMI in 1962, and produced their records until 1970, when the group disbanded. Giles Martin, born in 1969, was reportedly discouraged by his father from seeking a career in music, but he ignored the advice, and has enjoyed a successful career as a producer.
5. What kind of vehicle is used onstage several times in "LOVE"?

Answer: Volkswagen Beetle

There's a pristine white Beetle (straight off the Abbey Road album cover), another Beetle that I can only describe as having been "Cirque du Soleil-ed", and yet another white one that... well, I'll keep quiet about THAT one. There were no Flower Power stickers on any of them, though.
6. What happens during the song, "Blackbird"?

Answer: A small flock of "blackbirds" squawks and cackles raucously to a man speaking the song lyrics to them.

Only a smidgeon of music is used -- just to open and close the song. In between, the "birds" cackle, fuss, and flit about, while their mentor, Dr. Robert, helps them "learn to fly."
7. What do the trampoline performers in "LOVE" use to help direct their bounces?

Answer: Telephone box (booth)

The phone box is in the center, surrounded by four trampolines that are flush with the floor. Daniel Cola, Acrobatic Performance Designer for "LOVE", won a world championship in competitive trampoline in 1982.
8. The Beatles' song, "Yellow Submarine" is performed in "LOVE".

Answer: False

"Yellow Submarine" is not played, and although many fanciful Beatle characters appear during the show, I don't remember seeing Jeremy Hillary Boob, PhD., or any Blue Meanies.
9. What song closes "LOVE"?

Answer: All You Need Is Love

Of course, the audience claps, sways, and sings along!
10. At the gala premiere for "LOVE", after the show's finale, who did NOT take a "victory lap" around the stage with the others?

Answer: They all appeared together!

According to the official show website, http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/showstickets/love/about/about.htm, as the audience applauded and cheered, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, together with Yoko Ono, Olivia Harrison, George Martin, Giles Martin, and Dominic Champagne (the show's director), "took a victory lap around the stage." Paul McCartney then requested from the crowd, "Just one special round of applause for John and George!"
