Answer: Scrubs

"Scrubs" aired for eight seasons starting in 2001. The main character was Dr. John Dorian, aka JD, played by Zach Braff. JD had a very active fantasy life and at any moment during an episode he could go off into some dream sequence. This allowed for many dance and musical numbers, numerous comedy sketches, and all kinds of other zaniness.

His two compadres were Dr. Elliot Reid, a neurotic, pampered daddy's girl, and Dr. Christopher Turk, JD's best friend in an almost unhealthy way. Dr. Reid was played by Sarah Chalke and Dr. Turk was played by Donald Faison.

"Doc Hollywood" came out in 1991 and was based on the book "What? Dead...Again?" by Neil B. Shulman, M.D. While on his way to Hollywood from Washington DC, where he was a hot shot ER surgeon, Dr. Ben Stone had an accident in his Porsche and was sentenced to community service as the town doctor. Dr. Stone agreed to the terms because basically he had no choice but as soon as his sentence is over, he planned to leave.

As the movie progresses he falls in love with the local ambulance driver, Vialula (played by Julie Warner), and with small town life in general. So does he leave or does he stay? Watch the movie and find out.

Answer: Doctor Watson

Doctor Watson was created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in his first Sherlock Holmes novel, "A Study in Scarlet", which was first released in 1887. At first the character was supposed to be two different characters but was then combined into the one and only Dr. Watson. Many writers after Doyle would use the sidekick to help propel their stories and their heroes, including Agatha Christie and Nero Wolfe.

Many actors have portrayed Dr. Watson on screen, including Robert Duvall and James Mason. The most current incarnation of Watson comes from Jude Law opposite Robert Downey, Jr.'s Sherlock Holmes.

Answer: Dr. Quinn of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman"

Dr. Michaela Quinn (played by Jane Seymour) came out West from Boston in 1867 and established her practice in Colorado Springs. Byron Sully (played by Joe Lando) was not as anti-social as the typical mountain man has been portrayed and probably was, but he had to a great extent 'gone native' and adopted many of the ways of the local Cheyenne.

The show followed the exploits of Dr. Quinn as a female frontier doctor, a woman in a very male dominated society. Not only does Dr. Quinn have to deal with medicine as a doctor and prejudice because of her sex but also three children who were left in her care.

Answer: Peter Sellers

"Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" was directed by Stanley Kubrick and starred Peter Sellars as Dr. Strangelove among other roles. Sellers also played Group Captain Lionel Mandrake and President Merkin Muffley. The film was released at the height of the Cold War and satirized the whole Mutually Assured Destruction scenario under which the US and Soviet Union operated in those years. Dr. Strangelove was a wheel-chair bound, ex-Nazi nuclear war expert. One of the funniest scenes in the movie is when Slim Pickens rides a nuclear missile like a bucking bronco as it plummets towards its target.

Peter Sellers also famously portrayed Inspector Jacques Clouseau in the "Pink Panther" movies.

Dr. Huxtable was an obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) doctor. His wife, Claire (portrayed by Phylicia Rashâd), was a lawyer. The TV show aired for eight seasons starting in 1984. The show revolved around Heathcliff and Claire's struggles as they raised four daughters and one son.

Many of the actors who played the children on the show continued in show business. Among them Lisa Bonet (who played Denise) who went on to star in the spin-off "A Different World" and also in movies. Malcolm-Jamal Warner (who played Theo) has acted in many other TV shows and movies. Raven-Symoné (who played Denise's daughter Olivia) became a Disney star and recording artist.

Robin Williams played Dr. Malcolm Sayer in "Awakenings" and Dr. Hunter "Patch" Adams in "Patch Adams", both characters based on real-life doctors. "Awakenings" was released in 1990 and told the story of a doctor who worked with catatonic patients in the hopes of bringing them out of their catatonic state. Although he had success, it was short-lived and the patients returned to their previous states. It was directed by Penny Marshall.

"Patch Adams" told the story of a man who committed himself to a psychiatric ward but soon learned he could help his fellow patients. He got out of the ward and went to medical school to become a doctor. Through his experiences in the mental institution, Patch learned that taking care of a patient's spirit is just as important as taking care of his body and fights the establishment to accept his methods.

Answer: Dr. Jekyll

Dr. Jekyll first appeared in the Robert Louis Stevenson novella "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" published in 1886. The subject of personality and the battle between good and evil had fascinated Stevenson for some time before he wrote the story. The story itself told the tale of Dr. Jekyll who transformed himself into Mr. Hyde by drinking a potion. Eventually Dr. Jekyll cannot control his urge to transform into Mr. Hyde but soon his potion ran out. Still Dr. Jekyll realized too late that all of the transformations took their toll and he will become Mr. Hyde permanently even without the potion.

The novella was made into a movie many times. These include 1908, 1912, 1913, 1920, 1941, and twice in 2006. It has also inspired music and a video game.

Answer: Neil Patrick Harris

Neil Patrick Harris got his start starring as "Doogie Howser, M.D." for four seasons beginning in 1989. The show was created by Steven Bochco and David E. Kelley. Doogie was a doctor with a genius IQ and an eidetic memory, aka photographic memory. The show followed Doogie as he attempted to reconcile his adult responsibilities of being a doctor with the fact he was still a teenager growing up. James B. Sikking played Doogie's father who was also a doctor. Belinda Montgomery played his mother. Max Casella played Doogie's best friend Max.

Answer: Dr. Zhivago from "Dr. Zhivago"

"Dr. Zhivago" was a novel written by Boris Pasternak in 1957. The novel followed the struggles of Yuri Zhivago, a physician and poet who lived through the 1917 Russian Revolution and the resulting Russian Civil War. The novel dealt with several themes including loneliness, individuality, and the subverted revolution. Dr. Zhivago's idealism is crushed by the realities of the atrocities he witnessed.

The most famous film adaptation came out in 1965 and starred Julie Christie, Alec Guinness, and Omar Sharif. It won five Oscars and is noted for "Lara's Theme" by composer Maurice Jarre.
