Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Nexus consisted of the eight rookies on the first season of the WWE NXT show. They debuted on Raw in June 2010. What was their initial goal?

Answer: To get WWE contracts for all the members

The members, eight of them, had competed on the NXT where, by elimination, one winner would be selected who would get a WWE contract. The leader, Wade Barrett, won the competition but the other seven joined forces with him and tried to secure themselves a contract each as well.
The Nexus became John Cena's mortal enemies and did attack him several times but nowhere near enough to get him to retire.
2. The Nexus interfered in the main event of the "Fatal 4 Way" pay per view. Who did they enable to escape with the WWE championship?

Answer: Sheamus

The main event, with John Cena entering as champion, was shaping up fine when uninvited guests, in the form of the Nexus, decided to crash the party. They attacked crew backstage and made their way to the ring where they proceeded to decimate the participants. Sheamus stayed out of their way and once they were done with John Cena, Sheamus pinned him and escaped his title.
3. Before the "Money in the Bank" pay per view, the Nexus appeared on the NXT show. They appeared and competed in an impromptu battle royal. Who arranged the battle royal?

Answer: Matt Striker

MVP and all other pros got together and told their rookies to get ready for a fight after Percy Watson (MVP's own rookie) called his fellow competitors for an attack on MVP. Matt Striker, co-host for NXT, intervened and set up a battle royal which also involved the Nexus, who were supposed to compete anyhow.

The Nexus, all seven members, stood victorious as co-winners at the end of the match.
4. On the July 19, 2010 edition of "Raw", who did Wade Barrett defeat in a singles match?

Answer: Mark Henry

Wade Barrett took it upon himself to show that he wasn't just hiding behind the Nexus by defeating a four hundred pound monster in Mark Henry. In what was an incredible feat of strength, Barrett lifted Mark Henry onto his shoulders for his "Wasteland" finishing moves. Henry proved to be too much to lift, however, and Barrett dropped him a bit sloppily, but got the win.
5. On the July 26, 2010 episode of "Raw" the Nexus won a seven-on-seven elimination tag team match match with a clean sweep. Who was NOT on the opposing team?

Answer: Santino Marella

John Cena had announced a week previously on Raw that he had been gathering a team who had been affected by the attacks of the Nexus to take them down. Thus a seven-on-seven elimination tag team match between the Nexus and team WWE was arranged for SummerSlam. Team WWE was suffering from a possible punch up between its own members and the Nexus used this, and their elimination tag match victory, to state that they would leave SummerSlam as winners.
The other members of the team defeated by Nexus were The Hart Dynasty, Evan Bourne and Mark Henry.
6. Wade Barrett and John Cena battled at "Hell in a Cell" in October where if Cena lost, he would have to join the Nexus. Who helped Barrett win and make John Cena his servant?

Answer: Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty

In mid August, Skip Sheffield injured his ankle which put him out of action and both Heath Slater and David Otunga did not compete on the card. To make up for the dwindling number of Nexus members, McGuillicutty and Harris were drafted to join them. Dolph Ziggler, meanwhile, was never affiliated with the Nexus and competed in a dark match at "Hell in a Cell".
7. At which event did the Nexus win their first title in WWE?

Answer: Bragging Rights

David Otunga and the new member John Cena became the WWE Tag Team Champions when they defeated Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre. This was their first taste of gold in WWE. They defended the titles at "Survivor Series" albeit with a different two members carrying the gold. They also managed to keep their titles at "Tables, Ladders and Chairs" in December.
8. At the 2011 "Royal Rumble", the Nexus dominated the Royal Rumble match for the opening stretch and all members were eliminated by John Cena.

Answer: False

The New Nexus, as they were now called under a new leader in CM Punk, worked as a cohesive unit, first eliminating everyone else singly and then strategically disposing of new entrants, as and when they'd come, working together. Then John Cena arrived and eliminated all members except for Husky Harris (who The Great Khali eliminated). Cena was eliminated by The Miz later on and Miz wasn't even a participant in the match.
9. Who remained the only active member throughout the entire tenure of the Nexus?

Answer: David Otunga

Otunga managed to retain his spot all through 2010 and 2011 until August, when the Nexus was officially declared finished. He spent the last of the tenure tag teaming with Michael McGuillicutty. Michael Tarver had pulled out due to a nagging groin injury after "Hell in a Cell" in 2010. Wade Barrett, after being exiled from the group in early 2011, took Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater as Nexus castaways to establish a stable called the "Corre" on SmackDown.
10. How many championships combined did the Nexus members hold during the run of the group?

Answer: Four

The group held the WWE Tag Team Championships three times, with champions being first, David Otunga and John Cena followed by Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater and David Otunga and Michael McGuillicutty being the last two to hold the tag team championships. CM Punk, who, despite not actively linking himself with the actions of the group, was still the Nexus leader when he defeated John Cena at "Money in the Bank" 2011 to become WWE Champion.
