1. In what book series would a reader find a bear character named Iorek Byrnison?

Answer: "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman

Iorek Byrnison is an armored bear, which are similar in appearance to polar bears and wear armor. He was introduced in the first book of the series. He became a close friend of the main character, Lyra Belacqua.

The three books in the "His Dark Materials" series are: "Northern Lights" ("The Golden Compass" in North America) (1995), "The Subtle Knife" (1997), and "The Amber Spyglass" (2000). They took place in a parallel universe.

In the film version of the first book, "The Golden Compass" (2007), Iorek Byrnison was voiced by Ian McKellen.
2. What TV show from the 1960s was about a boy named Mark, who had a friendly bear as a friend?

"Gentle Ben" was aired from 1967-1969. It starred Clint Howard as Mark Wedloe. Ben was played by a bear named Bruno.

The show was based off of a 1965 book of the same name by Walt Morey, although some aspects were changed. For instance, the book took place in Alaska, but the show took place in Florida. Some character names and the species of the bear was also changed. Some movies have also been made based on the book.

Teddiursa is a small, normal-type Pokémon that looks like a bear cub with a crescent moon on it's forehead. It was introduced in the second generation of Pokémon. It was first seen in the "Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal" video game series. At level 30, Teddiursa evolves into Ursaring.
