J.J. Dillon discovered Kamala the Ugandan Giant during "an excursion to Africa". The Kamala character was an alleged bodyguard of former President of Uganda Idi Amin. Vignettes for Kamala the Ugandan Giant were shown on CWA's weekly television show airing on WMC in Memphis, Tennessee.

Kamala made his wrestling his Memphis wrestling debut in the CWA in May of 1982. He headlined Memphis' Mid-South Coliseum in matches with Jerry "the King" Lawler for the rest of the year.

Answer: André the Giant

André the Giant faced Kamala in a several of matches in the 1980s. Their feud started when Kamala bodyslammed André the Giant during an in-ring brawl. On April 16, 1983 at Mid-South Wrestling's annual "Superdome Extravaganza" event, André the Giant defeated Kamala.

In October 1984, André the Giant had a series of physical matches with Kamala in the WWE. The final match between the two was a classic Steel Cage Match at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Kamala and his manager "Classy" Freddie Blassie were once guests on an episode of WWE's "Tuesday Night Titans". Kamala brought with him a live chicken in a cage. During the segment, Kamala decided to eat the chicken against Vince McMahon's wishes.

The cameras then went dark. When the show came back, the bird was gone and chicken feathers were all over Kamala's mouth.

Kamala competed in WCCW from 1983 through 1985. Kamala faced David, Kerry and Kevin Von Erich on various WCCW shows and supercards. The matches would usually ens in a disqualification. Kamala, managed by Skandor Akbar, also faced Harley Race and the Great Kabuki in WCCW.

Kamala challenged Magnum T.A. for the NWA United States Championship in the first JCP's "The Great American Bash" event in 1985. Magnum T.A. won the match via disqualification when Kamala's manager, Skandor Akbar, interfered in the match.

From November 1986 to February 1987, Kamala challenged Hulk Hogan for the WWE Championship. Most of these matches ended in a disqualification. The feud ended in a No Disqualification Match at Madison Square Garden in New York City won by Hulk Hogan.

Since the matches between Kamala and Hulk Hogan ended in disqualification, the WWE Championship never changed hands. Kamala never won a championship in WWE during his career.

Beginning in 1986, Kim Chee appeared on WWE television as Kamala's "handler". Kim Chee was a masked character played by Steve Lombardi. Kim Chee wore safari outfits and a mask. Kim Chee would accompany Kamala and his manager to the ring.

At the 1992 WWE "Survivor Series" event, Kamala and the Undertaker faced each other in the first televised match. For the event, the match was billed as a Coffin Match. The Undertaker pinned Kamala and then placed the Ugandan Giant in the coffin. The Undertaker then nailed the coffin shut ending both the match and the feud.

After manager Harvey Wippleman and Kim Chee started treating Kamala poorly, Reverend Slick became Kamala's new manager. Reverend Slick and Kamala performed sketches to transform the Ugandan Giant's behavior. Reverend Slick tried to teach Uganda self respect and civilized activities such as bowling.

The Dungeon of Doom was formed by Kevin "the Taskmaster" Sullivan in the spring of 1995 in WCW. The goal of this stable was to end the wrestling career of Hulk Hogan. Kamala joined the stable in the summer of 1995. Kamala was part of the Dungeon of Doom team which competed against Hulk Hogan's team in a WarGames Match at WCW's 1995 "Fall Brawl" event.
