Back before "Wrestlemania" came long and the WWF entered the realm of Pay Per View events, the monthly card at Madison Square Garden was where it was at. The hottest ticket in town from the 1960s right through the mid 1980s The Garden was often referred to by Gorilla Monsoon as "The Mecca" for Professional Wrestling. On February 20, 1984 Hulk Hogan fought Paul Orndorff in his very first WWF Title defense at Madison Square Garden. Orndorff would become a pesky challenger to Hogan over the next few years.

In 1967, Terry met professional wrestler Jack Brisco. Brisco suggested that he get in touch with Hiro Matsuda, if he ever decided to get into professional wrestling. Terry tried his had at various things including music. He seem to have no luck getting a paying job in the music business, but seemed to have the capabilities to be a wrestler. So Terry decided to contact Hiro Matsuda. Matsuda taught Terry everything that there was to know about how to be a great wrestler. Matsuda is the one responsible for teaching Terry the famous 'Leg Drop'.

One of Hulk Hogan's earliest threats to The WWF Heavyweight Title was his old AWA nemesis David Schultz. Hogan and Schultz had feuded in the AWA when Hogan turned face and dumped "Luscious" John Valiant as his manager. The disgraced Valiant then brought in the nasty tempered "Dr D" as his new protege. In the spring of 1984 Schultz and Hulk continued their feud in a very bloody series of bouts. Perhaps the bloodiest was called "The Minneapolis Massacre" in June 1984, which ironically took place in the AWA's backyard.

They were both participants in the "Royal Rumble." They eliminated everyone from the ring and were the last two standing for another minute or so. They didn't do much but shove and double clothesline each other.

In his autobiography "Hollywood Hulk Hogan," Hogan talked about how he had trained Mr. T for the match. On the day of "Wrestlemania" Mr. T was nowhere to be found. Hogan called Mr. T's room at the hotel and Mr. T was in and said he was coming. He took a limo to Madison Square Garden and had a big group of people with him. The guards wouldn't let them in and Mr. T told Hogan "I'm leaving!" Hogan pulled some strings and got Mr. T's people in and "Wrestlemania" was a huge success. Hogan thinks that he saved "Wrestlemania" and also said that if he had not done what he did there might never have been another one.

Once he joined the ranks in professional wrestling, he was then managed by Jimmy 'The Mouth of the South' Hart. While wrestling in Alabama and Memphis, he met Andre The Giant. Andre was to become a very close friend of Terry's.

In the early summer of 1985 Randy Savage made his much anticipated WWF debut and immediately staked his claim for the WWF Heavyweight Title held by Hogan. In December 1985 and again in January 1986 "Macho Man" was able to best Hogan via count out and many felt "The Hulkster" had met his match. In their third match at MSG in February 1986 Hogan defeated Savage, now The WWF Intercontinental Champion, in a "Lumberjack Match".

In January 1987, the WWF chose to honor Hulk Hogan for his three years as WWF Heavyweight Champion. They also paid homage to Andre the Giant for being undefeated in his fifteen year career, Andre's trophy was considerably smaller. Both ceremonies occurred on the famed "Piper's Pit" and the third week the ever controversial color commentator Jesse Ventura showed up to stir the pot. After commenting that Andre was slighted he challenged Piper to produce Hogan the following week and he promised to deliver The Giant. The next week history was made as Andre arrived with Bobby Heenan and made his infamous heel turn and challenged Hogan to a match at "Wrestlemania III".

Hogan and the Outsiders were brought back in February's "No Way Out" by Vince McMahon to "kill" the company. This new NWO era didn't last long as Hall was fired, Nash was injured, and Hogan turned into a babyface by bringing back the Hogan the fans loved. Also, it should be noted that on May 6, 2002, the World Wrestling Federation legally changed its name to World Wrestling Entertainment, due to a lawsuit which was won by the World Wildlife Fund.

It was the event known as "Tuesday in Texas." It had Hogan regaining the title only to have it stripped that same weekend. The title would go up for grabs at the 1992 "Royal Rumble." Other matches on the card were Macho Man taking on Jake Roberts and British Bulldog taking on Skinner.

The annual WWF November Pay Per View "The Survivor Series" made its debut in November 1987 and the novel concept was warmly welcomed. In the final match Andre the Giant lead a team which consisted of Rick Rude, One Man Gang, Butch Reed and King Kong Bundy. On the opposing side Hulk Hogan was partnered with Paul Orndorff, Ken Patera, Bam Bam Bigelow and Don Muraco. After Reed was bested from the match the former Olympian and former Intercontinental Champion Patera was pinned by the gargantuan One Man Gang. In the end the night belonged to Andre as he was the sole survivor of the match.

This was the match of the night. Anyone who saw it would probably agree. Hogan lost the match but won the fans back. The Rock had to give Hogan the "Rock Bottom" three times, and also use the "People's Elbow" to win the match.

He drew number 26 and got eliminated by Sid Justice. The story going in was that Undertaker defeated Hogan at "Survivor Series 1991." He did that with Ric Flair's help. So they had their rematch and Of course Hogan got stripped of the title since he used a chair to his advantage. So Jack Tunney did them both a favor so to speak. He let them both draw a number between 20 and 30 to give them a better chance of winning. Undertaker drew number 20 and got eliminated as soon as Hogan entered.

In the three years of its existence "The Brother Love" show served as a launching pad of sorts where feuds where started and angles began. It was in October 1988 when the late Ray Traylor aka The Big Boss Man brutally attacked Hulk Hogan. After spraying mace in his face, the former prison guard handcuffed Hulk to a ringside barrier and repeatedly hit him with his nightstick. This sparked a brief rivalry which Hogan eventually won but it served its purpose as The Big Boss Man was now over as a vicious heel.

He defeated Triple H with the help of Undertaker and Chris Jericho. They both interfered in the match, but in the end Hogan came out as champion.

Sid kept saying Tunney was favoring as always. Sid would act like Hogan's friend only to turn on him. That happened during an episode of "Saturday Night's Main Event."

When the bell rang at the end of the 10 Man Match, it was determined that Hulk Hogan, Antonio Inoki and Andre The Giant held the same amount of points, and were placed in a Triple Threat Match to determine which two wrestlers would vie for the IWGP Heavyweight Title. Hulk Hogan and Antonio Inoki were the winners victorious over Andre The Giant. Inoki and Hogan then faced off against each other wrestling until the bell rang and brought the match to a close. Upon counting all the points, it was determined that Hogan held the most points and was thus ultimately handed the IWGP Heavyweight Title.
