In this highly regarded comedy series, starring Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey and Tamsin Grieg, Manny is a frustrated accountant who hates his job. He accidentally swallows the Little Book of Calm, which makes him ultra-relaxed, removing the stress and strife he has been suffering at work.

Douglas Adams was driving through North London when he spotted the name above an Estate Agency. He received permission from the company to use the name for a character. Following the wide recognition it received, people phoned the company to chide them for naming themselves after the character.

Ah, the Goon Show. Progenitors of the modern path of British comedy. The Scarlet Capsule was a spoof of "Quatermass and the Pit" by Nigel Kneale. Such was the popularity of this series of Science Fiction plays, churches re-scheduled their services to allow people to watch them.

Ned Quatermess is called in after 'workmen', in the absence of a strike, settle for work as an alternative and find a scarlet capsule deep in the ground. Failing to break down the door with a break, Eccles sets about opening it with a micro-radium tipped drill for non-porous surfaces. You gotta go OWWW!
