Dusty Rhodes, birth name Virgil Riley Runnels, Junior, was a former football player, wrestler, trainer and booker. Dusty Rhodes was inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame, the WCW Hall of Fame, the NWA Hall of Fame and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame.

Stan "the Lariat" Hansen was a pro wrestler who wore a cowboy hat and leather vest, chewed tobacco and carried a lariat bullrope. Hansen began his pro wrestling career in 1984 after attending West Texas A&M. Hansen won the AWA World Heavyweight Championship and AJPW Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship. Hansen was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016.

Brothers Terry and Dory Funk, Junior played football at West Texas A&M in the early 196s before becoming successful pro wrestlers. Terry Funk held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from December 10, 1975 through February 6, 1977. Dory Funk, Junior held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from February 11, 1969 through May 24, 1973.

The Funk brothers were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.

The Four Horsemen was a professional wrestling stable formed in 1985 in the National Wrestling Alliance. Two members, Barry Windham and Tully Blanchard, attended West Texas A&M on football scholarships before becoming pro wrestlers.

The "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase played defensive tackle at West Texas A&M. He was also a member the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. In 1975, DiBiase left the school to pursue a career in pro wrestling. DiBiase was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2010. DiBiase became a Christian minister after retiring as an active pro wrestler.

Merced Solis played tight end on the West Texas A&M football team. He was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Solis wrestled under the name Tito Santana. Santana defeated The Executioner in the opening match of the inaugural "Wrestlemania" event. Santana won both the WWE Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship and the WWE Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship twice. Santana was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004.

Scott Casey attended West Texas A&M before training with Dory Funky, Sr. in 1970. He spent his pro wrestling career in Texas before joining the WWE in 1987. Casey replaced B. Brian Blair at the WWE's 1988 "Survivor Series" event. Casey teamed with Jake Roberts, Tito Santana, Ken Patera and Jim Duggan.

After retiring from the ring, Casey trained Harlem Heat members Booker T and Stevie Ray.
