Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends constantly fought for years against which mad scientist?

Answer: Dr. Ivo Robotnik

Although Sonic has had to fight off various other "nutters" and crooks, Sonic has been battling Robotnik since the very beginning. In fact, Sonic the Comic begins after the events of "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" for the Mega Drive, so it's been even longer! Kintobor was Robotnik's previous form, but he was a good professor. Neinstein was mentioned in one throwaway story, while Doctor Genius was a failed bank robber in another complete story.
2. In the 6-part story "The Return of Chaotix" (#67 - #72), Sonic and the Chaotix Crew embarked on a time-travelling, planet-hopping adventure to defeat a robotic group of Sonic lookalikes. What were they collectively known as?

Answer: The Brotherhood of Metallix

Sonic originally fought a single Metallix under the control of Robotnik. Some time later, it was revealed that the metal Sonics had betrayed Robotnik and had their own ulterior motive, involving turning Mobius into a metallic planet. They were eventually destroyed by a self-destruct mechanism Robotnik had with him all along!
3. Robotnik created a robot programmed with his own thought patterns, including strategies and ambitions, but eventually proved to be too independent. What was its name?

Answer: Brutus

Brutus was first dispatched to capture Sonic and his friends (created in "Project Brutus (#63)) and would have been successful, had it not been for the arrogance he had obtained from Robotnik, as well as Sonic's transformation into Super Sonic. Predicto was a similar robot, programmed with Sonic and co.'s likely battle strategies. Eggrobo was a Badnik equipped with Robotnik's voice and a camera, while Mekanik was just a huge robot!
4. Which initial member of the Chaotix Crew betrayed the others in the story, "Total Chaotix" (#53-#58)?

Answer: Nack the Weasel

More interested in money than loyalty, Nack betrayed his friends (and Knuckles) to the Brotherhood of Metallix. His plan backfired when the Metallix, in turn, crossed him. From then on, Nack became a freelance thief.
5. Knuckles the Echidna's race abandoned him many years ago, but things seemed to have changed when an elderly echidna appeared in Megapolis City, in the story "Homecoming" (#65-#68). Who was this knowledgable echidna?

Answer: Zachary

Doctor Zachary, an old, white echidna was rescued by Knuckles when an old Guardian Robot seemed to attack him. Zachary later confessed that his plan was to commandeer the robot, absorb the power of the Master Emerald and act as an "Angel of Death" over the people of Mobius.

His plan was foiled by Knuckles, punching Zachary and the robot off his island. Zachary later returned with cybernetic repairs to his damaged body (#97).
6. Sonic was captured by Doctor Robotnik and taken to the Drakon Empire to be placed on trial. In which story did the Drakons first appear, in any form?

Answer: The Sentinel

A Drakon sentinel actually appeared in The Sentinel (#29), a one-time story with seemingly no links to any other story. It wasn't until Flickies' Island (#104-#106) that writer Nigel Kitching returned to this plot point and developed into an entire race of land-dwelling fish. The Drakons weren't actually named in The Sentinel, by the way.
7. Which bounty hunter chased Miles "Tails" Prower and his unwilling companion, Tristam (or "Tantrum") in order to claim a reward from Doctor Robotnik? ("Fox on the Run", #73-#76)

Answer: Fleabyte

Fleabyte, a dirty cat lost in his Wild West world, stumbled across Tails and forced him to traverse the murky undergrounds. Although he evaded capture eventually, Tails later had to work with Fleabyte to defeat a indiscriminate group of Troopers searching for non-robots.
8. Shortfuse the Cybernik had a sworn enemy at one point, a fellow Cybernik who actually chose to be encased inside his prison of armour. What his name?

Answer: Vermin

Originally an informer for the Freedom Fighters, he became a Cybernik and led them into a trap (#90-#91) which only saw the good guys win by luck (the Zone they were in had trees bearing special fruit, acidic ones which melted metal. Another appearance saw Shortfuse battle Vermin again, almost leaving Johnny to his death (#97).
9. A rich, insane gentleman living in the Special Zone, this person dreamed of controlling Super Sonic and ruling the entire universe. Who was this madman?

Answer: Lord Sidewinder

Though Sidewinder was intent on leading himself to self-destruction, his cronies weren't so sure. Lightmare, his own daughter, even went to the Chaotix Crew in an effort to stop him (#98).
10. Which collector imprisoned Sonic in a forcefield, then was challenged to a trivia quiz by Norris Wimple for Sonic's freedom ("Fan Friction", #124)?

Answer: Ryan Baggit

Baggit actually won the trivia quiz, but was undone by his own trap, proving to be painful to anyone who touched it from the outside. Sonic utilised this by running towards Baggit and tricking him into turning the forcefield off, allowing Sonic to escape.
