Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Tazz' real name?

Answer: Peter Senerchia

Tazz' real name is Peter Senerchia. He was born on October 11, 1967. He is also fairly short for a professional wrestler billed as being 5 ft 9 in (1.75 m) tall. Peter Senerchia was originally known as the Tazmaniac. The name was shortened to simply Taz during his tenure with ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling).

In the WWF/WWE (World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment), he added the second 'Z' to his name, most likely to avoid a lawsuit from Warner Bros. The other names belong to other former ECW superstars. Scott Levy was known as Raven, James Fullington was The Sandman and Mark LoMonaco was known as Bubba Ray Dudley.
2. Tazz hails from the neighborhood of Red Hook, which is located in what New York City borough?

Answer: Brooklyn

When Tazz made his way to the ring the announcers would specifically state that he hailed "from the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, New York". The neighborhood of Red Hook is located on the northwest corner of the borough. The entrance to the Hugh L. Carey (aka Brooklyn-Battery) Tunnel linking Brooklyn to Manhattan is located in Red Hook.
3. What is another nickname for Tazz?

Answer: The Human Suplex Machine

Tazz was known as "The Human Suplex Machine" as he would use several versions of the suplex to wear down his opponents. Fellow ECW alumnus Sabu was known as "The Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal, Death-Defying Maniac". WWF/WWE superstars Triple H and Randy Orton were known as "The Cerebral Assassin" and "The Legend Killer" respectively.
4. Tazz' finishing maneuver was the Kata-Ha-Jime. What was it more commonly known as?

Answer: Tazzmission

Tazz' finishing maneuver was a judo move known as the Kata-Ha-Jime. The move became known as the Tazzmission. It is a move similar to a sleeper hold, but Tazz' version is more akin to a choke hold. Tazz had learned some judo prior to becoming a professional wrestler.
5. Who was Tazz' opponent at ECW's "Barely Legal" pay-per-view in 1997, their first since going extreme?

Answer: Sabu

"Barely Legal" was the first pay-per-view to be held by ECW after transitioning from Eastern Championship Wrestling to Extreme Championship Wrestling. During the show, Tazz defeated Sabu in a singles match. In the same event, hardcore wrestling legend Terry Funk would claim the ECW World Heavyweight Championship after competing in a three-way dance to determine the title's challenger with The Sandman and Stevie Richards. Terry Funk then defeated Raven in the subsequent championship match.
6. Which of these ECW alumni served as Tazz' manager?

Answer: Bill Alfonso

Bill Alfonso was a referee for ECW. He became Tazz' manager at the "November to Remember" event, which was held at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia in 1995. Tazz had turned heel during the show, which was considered to be a defining moment for his ECW character. Bill Alfonso would remain his manager until the "Barely Legal" pay-per-view in 1997, when he turned on Tazz to side with Sabu and Rob Van Dam.
7. Which former ECW superstar did Tazz defeat in January, 1999 to become the ECW World Heavyweight Champion

Answer: Shane Douglas

Tazz defeated Shane Douglas at ECW's "Guilty as Charged" pay-per-view on January 10, 1999 to become the ECW World Heavyweight Champion. He held the title for nine months before losing it to Mike Awesome at the "Anarchy Rulz" pay-per-view on September 19, 1999. Tazz would soon leave ECW after signing with the World Wrestling Federation. Vince McMahon would allow Tazz to briefly return to ECW to reclaim the ECW Championship on April 13, 2000, after Mike Awesome left ECW for WCW. Tazz dropped the title to Tommy Dreamer a week later.
8. Which previously undefeated WWF/WWE superstar suffered his first loss against Tazz in 2000?

Answer: Kurt Angle

Tazz made his WWF/WWE debut at the "Royal Rumble" pay-per-view on January 20, 2000. His opponent was the then undefeated Olympic gold-medalist Kurt Angle. Tazz defeated Kurt Angle, causing him to pass out after locking in the Tazzmission. Color commentator Jerry "The King" Lawler, expressed his disbelief at how Tazz was allowed to choke his opponent out.
9. In WWF/WWE, Tazz was a three-time Hardcore Champion. What was the only other title won by Tazz in the WWF/WWE?

Answer: Tag Team Championship

Tazz unfortunately did not see as much success in the WWF/WWE as he had in ECW. He won the Hardcore Championship three times, but given that the Hardcore Championship would change hands repeatedly due to its 24/7 rule, it wasn't much of an accomplishment.

The only other championship Tazz won in the WWF/WWE was the World Tag Team Championship, which he won with fellow ECW alumnus Spike Dudley on an episode of "Monday Night Raw" on January 7, 2002. They were champions for 43 days before losing the titles to Billy and Chuck on an episode of "SmackDown".
10. Tazz would eventually transition to a color commentator for WWF/WWE. Which of his fellow commentators did Tazz defeat at the "ECW One Night Stand" pay-per-view in 2006?

Answer: Jerry "The King" Lawler

Later in his WWF/WWE career, Tazz had transitioned into a color commentator as his in-ring career was winding down. His last official WWF/WWE match came against fellow commentator and wrestling legend Jerry "The King" Lawler. The match was held at the "ECW One Night Stand" pay-per-view in 2006. Tazz would defeat The King using the Tazzmission.
