Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the WWE Champion heading into the WWE Pay Per View, "Judgment Day" 2000?

Answer: The Rock

A month before, at the "Backlash" Pay Per View, The Rock had defeated Triple H in the main event to begin his fourth WWE Championship reign.
The Main Event at "Judgment Day" 2000 was an Iron Man match between The Rock and Triple H, with Shawn Michaels as the guest referee. The match was tied at 5-5 towards the end, when The Undertaker made his return to the WWE and attacked Triple H, and the McMahon-Helmsley Faction. In the process, Shawn Michaels disqualified The Rock thanks to Undertaker's interference, giving Triple H the 6-5 victory and his fourth WWE Championship.
2. Which superstar was the WWE Champion by the end of the WWE Pay Per View, "Royal Rumble" 2001?

Answer: Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle had won the WWE Championship at the "No Mercy" Pay Per View on 22 October 2000, and held the title until 25 February 2001, a period of four months. Throughout his reign, Kurt Angle was given a major push, defeating the likes of Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, The Rock and Triple H.
3. By the end of 2001, Stone Cold Steve Austin was a five-time WWE Champion.

Answer: False

Stone Cold Steve Austin was a six-time WWE Champion by the end of 2001. In that year, Austin won the WWE Championship twice. The first time was at "WrestleMania X-Seven", when Austin did "the unthinkable" and aligned with his long time arch-rival, Vince McMahon.
The second time was on 8 October, 2001, on an edition of WWE RAW when Austin had the help of the WWE Commissioner, William Regal, who turned heel and helped Austin win the title. Thus far, this title reign has proved to be Austin's final in the WWE.
4. On 9 December 2001 at the "Vengeance" Pay Per View, Chris Jericho won the World Championship.

Answer: True

This is in fact true as Chris Jericho beat The Rock to win the World Championship in his first match of the evening, and then later defeated WWE Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin. The two titles were immediately unified and Chris Jericho was announced as the first-ever Undisputed WWE Champion.
Jericho is the only man in WWE history to defeat both The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in two separate matches on the same night. Jericho then later defeated The Rock at the "Royal Rumble" 2001 Pay Per View, and Stone Cold Steve Austin at the "No Way Out" Pay Per View.
Jericho eventually lost the Undisputed WWE Championship to Triple H on 17 March, 2002 at the "WrestleMania X8" Pay Per View.
5. Brock Lesnar is the youngest WWE Champion in history.

Answer: True

Although Randy Orton is the youngest world champion in history, he is not the youngest WWE Champion. Orton won the World Heavyweight Championship, not the WWE Championship.
Lesnar won the title on 25 August 2002, by defeating The Rock at the age of 25. Lesnar went on to become a three-time WWE Champion.
6. Who defeated Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship, ending Lesnar's SECOND WWE Championship reign?

Answer: Kurt Angle

Brock Lesnar lost his first WWE Championship to Big Show, at the "Survivor Series" 2002 Pay Per View.
Lesnar then went on to win the 2003 Royal Rumble Match, and defeat Kurt Angle for his second WWE Championship at "WrestleMania XIX". After Angle got injured, he returned and won the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat match at "Vengeance" 2003, which also included The Big Show.
7. John Bradshaw Layfield defeated Eddie Guerrero for the WWE Championship at "Judgment Day" 2004.

Answer: False

John Bradshaw Layfield, at the "Judgment Day" Pay Per View, guaranteed that he would defeat Eddie Guerrero. However, their match ended in a disqualification, with JBL winning.
At the next "Smackdown" Pay Per View, "The Great American Bash" 2004, JBL guaranteed that he would win the WWE Championship. JBL proved true to his word, and defeated Eddie Guerrero for the title in a Texas Bull-Rope match.
8. Who was voted to challenge for the WWE Championship at the 2005 "Taboo Tuesday" Pay Per View?

Answer: Shawn Michaels

Eric Bischoff had announced a Triple Threat main event for the "Taboo Tuesday" 2004 Pay Per View with the WWE Championship on the line. The defending champion, John Cena, would face Kurt Angle and one other competitor, to be determined by a fan vote (since Taboo Tuesday was an interactive Pay Per View. It has since be renamed "Cyber Sunday").
To become a candidate in the fan vote, three superstars won qualifiers - Big Show (by defeating Edge in a singles match), Kane (by winning an 18-Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal upon his return to RAW) and Shawn Michaels (by defeating Carlito).
Shawn Michaels won with 46% of the fan vote. As a result, Big Show and Kane were then paired together to challenge for the World Tag Team Championship, which they won that night.
Shawn Michaels was unsuccessful in winning the WWE Championship, when he was pinned by the champion John Cena.
9. At the "New Year's Revolution" 2006 Pay Per View, John Cena wrestled in two WWE Championship matches, winning both.

Answer: False

At the "New Year's Revolution" 2006 Pay Per View, John Cena had been scheduled to defend the WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber match against Carlito, Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, Chris Masters and Kane. After this match which lasted almost 30 minutes, John Cena emerged victorious and still WWE Champion.

However, Cena's night was not over as the winner of the 2005 Money in the Bank Ladder match, Edge, decided to cash in his opportunity (by winning the Money in the Bank Match at "WrestleMania 21", Edge earned the right to challenge the WWE Champion any time he wished within the next year from WrestleMania). Edge took advantage of a bloody and tired Cena, and in less than two minutes Edge pinned Cena and became the WWE Champion for the first time in his career.
10. Which two men were involved in the WWE Championship match on 25 June 2006, at the 2006 Pay Per View, "Vengeance"?

Answer: Edge and Rob Van Dam

John Cena lost the WWE Championship to Rob Van Dam at the 2006 "ECW One Night Stand" Pay Per View, giving Van Dam his first-ever WWE Championship reign. Van Dam was then awarded the ECW Championship as well, making him a double champion and the first (and thus far only) man to simultaneously hold the WWE Championship and ECW World Championship.
Van Dam defended the WWE Championship against Edge in a match at "Vengeance" 2006, however the match was not the main event of the evening (the main event was The Spirit Squad vs. D-Generation X in a 5-on-2 Handicap Match).
Edge then later won the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat match on 3 July 2006, which included the champion Rob Van Dam and John Cena. Rob Van Dam had been arrested for drug use prior to this event, which probably cost him his world titles. The following night after losing the WWE Championship to Edge, Rob Van Dam lost the ECW World Championship to Big Show on ECW.
