It brought together an image of how Santa looked, from his jolly red cheeks, his dimples, white beard and round belly.

The poem also introduced us for the first time to his reindeer helpers, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen!
