WWF 'Raw' Triple H Returns! January 7, 2002 Quiz

Answer: Beautiful Day

U2's 'Beautiful Day' was shown in the beginning of 'Raw' as a tribute to Triple H. This song was played for almost two months prior to his return. Triple H tore his left quadricep on an episode of 'Raw' in May of 2001. After eight months of rehabilitation, he finally returned, and it sure was a 'Beautiful Day'.

As this episode of 'Raw' went underway, Vince McMahon walked to the ring carrying a gift. He said he had an announcement to make that was even bigger than Triple H's return. Vince said that before he said his announcement, he wanted everyone to see some footage of Ric Flair from the 1980's and 1990's (I think he forgot to mention 1960's and 1970's). Vince showed footage of Flair winning titles from Dusty Rhodes and Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat, among others. Vince then used Flair's saying, 'to be the man, then you have to beat the man'. Vince said that without a doubt, he was the man.

He then opened the gift and proceeded to take out a blonde wig and one of Flair's Liberace-like robes, and put them on. Vince then mimicked Flair's style of walking.

Answer: False

Ric Flair came down to the ring and demanded that Vince remove the blonde wig. When Vince refused, Flair snatched it off of his head. Flair then said, 'you know what's next?', and yelled for Vince to take off the robe. Vince acquiesced, and as he was taking the robe off he brought out a lead pipe that he had hidden in his pants. Vince then hit Flair on the head with the pipe, bloodying him.

The two fought, but Flair was unable to really fight back. Vince then left Flair in the middle of the ring, and proceeded to walk up the ramp. Way to go Vince! You are the man!

Answer: Test

Test faced off against Rob Van Dam. Test dominated RVD from the outset. Test threw RVD into two corners of the ring, which was followed quickly by huge clotheslines. Unfortunately, RVD reversed Test's 'Pumphandle Slam' with a huge kick to the face, knocking Test down.

Then RVD performed the 'Five Star Frog Splash' for the win. Hmmmm...considering the fact that Test is able to beat just about anyone, are we to actually believe that he was unable to defeat RVD? I don't think so. J.R. calls RVD unorthodoxed and says he has educated feet. I believe RVD just doesn't know the WWF choreography and makes up his own as he goes along.

There is no way that RVD, as conceited as he is, can defeat Test, Kane, The Big Show, or anyone else for that matter, without them taking a fall for RVD.

Answer: Kurt Angle

As Coach was waiting for the arrival of Triple H, Kurt Angle walked up to him and said that if anyone deserves to be interviewed, it was him. Angle said he had a huge announcement, and when Coach started to ask Angle questions, Angle said he didn't want to be asked pity questions.

Answer: Terri

Trish, who was addressing the fans at WWF New York, was interrupted by Terri. Terri challenged Trish to a wet t-shirt contest for later that night.

Answer: Scotty 2 Hotty and Albert

Scotty 2 Hotty and Albert faced off against Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo. Scotty and Albert were doing great, with Scotty giving Gunn the 'Worm'. Unfortunately, Gunn and Palumbo won when Gunn gave Scotty the 'Fameasser' for the win. Better luck next time Scotty and Albert!

Answer: Lance Storm

Lance Storm faced off against Edge for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Edge successfully retained his title when he gave Storm the 'Edgecution' for the win. Way to go Edge!

Answer: Booker T and Big Boss Man

The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin faced off against The Big Boss Man and Booker T. Austin and The Rock had control of the match early on. Then The Rock gave Booker T a 'Spinebuster', and was ready to deliver 'The People's Elbow' when Boss Man grabbed his legs, giving Booker T a chance to mimick the 'Rockbottom' with his so-called bookend.

After some tagging by Boss Man and Booker T, The Rock was in a bad way when Booker T tried, unsuccessfully, to give The Rock a scissors kick. The Rock finally managed to tag in Austin, who came in like a house on fire. Austin made his team win when he gave Boss Man a 'Stone Cold Stunner' for the win.

After the match, Austin and The Rock celebrated with beers. Did you notice that Booker T fell at one point? Could this be because he doesn't know the wrestling moves? Considering the fact that when Booker first appeared on WWF, he fought in singles competition, then was paired up with other wrestlers for tag teaming. I think Vince realizes that Booker doesn't have a clue as to what it takes to be a WWF wrestler, and therefore is providing Booker with in-ring training, much to the dismay of the real wrestlers. Booker messes up way to much and has to be carried in the matches. Also, take notice that he is never paired up with his cohorts from WCW, but is paired up with WWF wrestlers who know the choreography.

Answer: Rikishi

Rikishi faced off against Chris Jericho in a Non Title Match. From the beginning of the match, Rikishi had control. In a matter of minutes Rikishi had Jericho in a position for the 'Stinkface', but referee Nick Patrick put a stop to that. At one point, Rikishi had knocked Jericho down and dragged him to one of the corners for a 'Bonzai Drop', but Jericho quickly moved out of the way. Jericho then brought the one of his championship belts into the ring as a weapon, but Rikishi tossed him into the corner. Unbeknownst to Rikishi, Nick Patrick was also knocked into the corner along with Jericho.

When Jericho saw Rikishi ready to give them both the 'Stinkface', Jericho moved out of the way. Rikishi ended up giving just Nick Patrick the 'Stinkface'. With Patrick dazed, Jericho used this opportunity to use the title belt, and knock Rikishi out. Jericho covered Rikishi, and Patrick, who was just coming out of his daze, failed to see that Rikishi had gotten his shoulders off the mat. Patrick awarded Jericho the win.

Answer: Tazz and Spike Dudley

Tazz and Spike Dudley faced off against The Dudley Boyz for the WWF Tag Team Championship. The rules for this match were hardcore. Tazz and Spike became the new WWF Tag Team Champions when Spike gave Bubba Ray the 'Dudley Dog' right through a table, and pinned him for the win. Way to go Spike and Tazz!

Answer: Wet T-Shirt Match

Trish Stratus and Terri competed in a Wet T-Shirt Match, with Jerry 'The King' Lawler as the special judge. The King came prepared with super-soaker water rifle and soaked Terri first. Terri pranced around for the audience, who were the judges.

Answer: Jazz

When it was Trish's turn to be soaked by The King, Jazz sneaked into the ring, and attacked her from behind. Trish was knocked out when Jazz gave her a DDT. When The King went to see if Trish was alright, Jazz attacked him, too. The King turned around and gave Jazz a look that made her run in the other direction. Jazz wants so badly to be noticed, but she has to understand that she isn't in the WWF long enough to be the Women's Champion. Better yet, she isn't good enough to be the Women's Champion!

Answer: Triple H

Triple H's music came on the Titantron, and the whole arena welcomed him back. He posed on each corner of the ring, and walked around. J.R. commented, 'I've never felt or heard emotion like what we're seeing tonight'. Triple H was then given a microphone.

He said, 'Just in case you've forgotten, let me tell you just who the hell I am. I AM THE GAME! And you can bet your bottom I'm back'! Triple H then announced that he was entering the 'Royal Rumble'.

Answer: Kurt Angle

As Triple H was talking, Kurt Angle's music blared loudly, cutting Triple H off. Angle said that Triple H's injury was nothing compared to Angle's broken neck in 1996. Angle then announced that he, too, was entering the 'Royal Rumble'. When Angle finally entered the ring, Triple H knocked him on his back.

The two fought, and Angle gave Triple H a 'German Suplex', but Triple H fought back, and ended the night with a well-deserved 'Pedigree' on Angle. Welcome back Triple H! You make everyday a 'Beautiful Day'!
