1. Akubra

The Akubra is an Australian hat particularly associated with cattlemen of the highlands. It is made from rabbit fur felt and is wide-brimmed to handle the rain in the highlands. Now used by many people from city to country, it has become somewhat of a fashion statement for some.
2. Ayam

Answer: Korea

Ayam is a Korean cap mainly for women in the winter months. The cap is highly pleated and decorated by embroidery and sometimes with gems. There is a tassel on the front of the cap and the back has a long piece of fabric hanging down to the middle of the back. There is a lighter version used for the other seasons.
3. Balmoral beret

The Balmoral beret is named after the Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The beret dates from the sixteenth century and is associated with the Scottish Highland clans. The beret is made of wool, knitted and has a flat crown. Ribbons are usually located at the back of the beret with a badge of either a clan or regiment on the side.

The chullo is a hat from Peru and other South American countries. Usually a knitted wool hat made from llama, alpaca or sheep wool, the hat has earflaps to further protect the head from the cold conditions. These hats have become very popular with the hippies and greenies.

The jaapi is a conical hat from Assam, India. The hat is made from woven bamboo, cane or palm leaf. The hat was used as a sunshade although the nobility were known for wearing ornate jaapi for status. The weaving of different colours and designs for symbolic reasons were usually red, white, black, blue and green.

The Rogatywka is a four-pointed top cap with a short peak from Poland, used by the military. There are two types: soft and hard. The hard cap is used in ceremonial events whereas the soft variety is for everyday wear for the military. Different army branches have different colours for the peak of their cap.

Answer: Serbia

The national hat of Serbia is the sajkaca. First known from the eighteenth century where it was predominantly worn by men in rural areas, it is made of a soft cloth and comes in black, grey or green. This hat has become a symbol of the Serbian uprisings and followed by being part of the Serbian military uniform.
8. Salakot

Answer: Philippines

The salakot is made with rattan or reeds and is a traditional wide-brimmed hat from the Philippines. It is more ornate than the conical hats found in other parts of Asia. The salakot was often adorned with silver coins, pendants and embossed silver.
9. Tuque

Answer: Canada

The tuque is a knitted woollen hat from Canada. It is also known as a ski cap and in some other countries as a beanie.
10. Ushanka

Answer: Russia

The ushanka is a Russian fur cap that has earflaps. The earflaps can be fastened under the chin to protect the ears and jawline from the cold. The earflaps are also often tied on top of the hat which gives the hat a fuller wider look. They are usually made out of sheepskin or rabbit fur, though the more Arctic areas do use mink fur.
