Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the term used to describe when a superstar incorrectly executes a maneuver?

Answer: Botch

A botch, for example, would be if Jeff Hardy slipped on the top rope while attempting a planned "Swanton Bomb". Botches are usually pointed out by the fans by booing.
2. A "bomb scare" is a term that refers to an event that has a very low attendance.

Answer: True

Bomb scares are usually untelevised events in small town arenas. Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), in its old days, was known for having many low attendance ratings.
3. Out of the following four terms, which one does not mean the same as baby-face?

Answer: Heel

A heel in professional wrestling is usually a bad guy who the fans dislike. Baby-faces and tweeners are the wrestlers that fans cheer for in every match. For example, during most of his career Jeff Jarret has been considered a heel. On the other hand, Rey Mysterio has mostly been a good guy.
4. A person who creates matches and writes story lines is called a booker. What does World Wrestling Entertainment call their bookers?

Answer: Creative team

The Creative Team is responsible for creating matches (writing match scenes). Some wrestlers, like Finlay and Jamie Noble are both wrestlers and writers. Some other members of the WWE Creative Team are Dusty Rhodes and Ron Simmons.
5. Which of the following shows would not be considered a B-Show?

Answer: WWE "Smackdown!"

A B-Show is an event that features lower-level talented superstars and recaps of the main shows. Most wrestlers get their starts at these type of events.
6. When two superstars continually wrestle each other and become enemies, this is called a feud. The correct term to describe the final match in a feud is called a blow up.

Answer: False

This is actually called a blow off. A blow up, in wrestling slang, refers to a point in a match when a competitor is completely out of energy, usually resulting in an unscheduled match ending.
7. In the early days of professional wrestling, female wrestlers were not called divas. What were they actually called?

Answer: Bozarks

Bozarks referred to any female wrestler. Nobody actually knows where this name came from, but in the early 1970s this changed to diva.
8. Which of the following terms does not have to do with a wrestler bleeding?

Answer: Bury

Bury refers to when a superstar loses match after match because of the fan's or the booker's disliking of that person. Busted open describes the bleeding wrestler and blade and blading refer to the superstar making himself bleed.
9. A referee being "blind" refers to him or her having their back turned. Heels usually capitalize on this situation.

Answer: True

The heels are the bad guys and they always seem to take the unfair advantage.
10. A term commonly used to describe an independent wrestling promotion that has very low notability is called what kind of wrestling?

Answer: backyard

Again referring to the original Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), they started as a promotion with very little fans. Soon, as more fans began to realize and adapt to their extreme ways, ECW got out of its backyard wrestling stage. Thanks for playing, and look out for Wrestling Terminology C!
