Mr. Sir had stopped smoking and took up eating sunflower seeds instead. One of the boys had taken the bag of sunflower seeds, and was passing the sack around to all the other boys. Stanley was the last boy to get the sack, and didn't really even get any because they ended being spilled all over the ground. Since Mr. Sir found the seeds near to Stanley he thought he was the guilty one. Stanley, once again got accused of taking something he had not taken at all.

Twithch's real name was Brian, although no one went by their given names once they were at camp. All the boys had nicknames which was a reflection of their personality - Twitch said he "twitched" when it came to something he wanted to steal.

Stanley and the boys were told if they found something interesting they might get the day off from digging. Stanley found a fossil of a fish. It didn't get him the day off, but it did earn him the nickname of Caveman.

Lots of changes were happening at the end of the book: Zero could spell, the treasure was found, the warden and her crew were arrested, and it began to rain - the first time in about 100 years. Another big change was the tough attitude that Squid had. He wanted his mom to know that he was sorry, which probably was a story right there that could be told.
