Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In book thirteen, "The End", when the entire island has been poisoned by the Medusoid Mycelium, Violet, Klaus and Sunny are searching for horseradish to cure themselves. What, besides wasabi, does Sunny then say is an adequate substitute for horseradish?

Answer: Eutrema

When the three Baudelaire orphans are searching through the shelves Violet mentions that wasabi was an adequate substitute when Sunny was first poisoned. Sunny then says weakly "Or Eutrema".
2. What was the snack that Sunny first served in "The Grim Grotto", with ingredients she had found washed in by the tide?

Answer: Peanut butter on crackers

Fiona was the first to taste this delicious snack.
3. "Beatrice" is the name of two different people. One is Kit Snicket's baby girl. The other is Lemony Snicket's love, but she was connected in another way. What was it?

Answer: She was the Baudelaire children's mother

This is only discovered right at the end of "The End". Kit Snicket asked the Baudelaires to name her baby after one of their parents. As the baby is a girl, it makes sense that she was named after their mother.
Right at the end of "The End" the baby girl says her name, which is also the name of the boat, which is "Beatrice".
4. Where does the secret passageway beneath the Quagmire's house lead to?

Answer: Uncle Monty's place

Quigley Quagmire mentions that he spent a long time in that house after escaping from the fire that burnt his house down.
5. What item from "The Carnivorous Carnival" ended up at the island in "The End"?

Answer: The fan belt

This is mentioned in one of the long lists of stuff on the island.
6. What was the reason (according to Phil) for Phil's limping in "The Grim Grotto"?

Answer: He had been bitten by a shark

His leg had been crushed when Klaus was hypnotised, but that was not the reason he was limping, or so he says.
7. How many of the three Snicket siblings are DEFINITELY dead when the thirteenth book of the "Series of Unfortunate Events" finishes?

Answer: Two

Jacques was murdered in the village of VFD and Kit died on the island of mushroom poisoning. Lemony may or may not be dead, but it is not confirmed.
8. What is Ike Anwhistle's full first name?

Answer: Isaac

Isaac Anwhistle (also called Ike) is the man who threw the sugar bowl out the kitchen window of VFD's mountain hideout, which somewhat hints that maybe Ike wasn't eaten by leeches after all...
9. What letter of Carmelita's "C-A-R-M-E-L-I-T-A" song did not correspond correctly with the word she sang?

Answer: "M"

Carmelita constantly insisted that "gorgeous" began with an "M".
10. What were the two books that coconut cake was mentioned in?

Answer: "The Reptile Room" and "The Grim Grotto"

In "The Reptile Room" it was served by Uncle Monty, and it was also made by Sunny and Phil for Violet's 15th birthday.
