The prologue was the end of "A Dangerous Path" with Bluestar's point of view instead of Fireheart's. She saved Fireheart from being killed by her dogs by sacrificing herself. In the gorge, she heard Oakheart's voice urging her onward. She was saved by Fireheart, Mistyfoot, and Stonefur, and her two kits apologized to her for giving them up to RiverClan.

She then let Oakheart guide her to StarClan, as she had no more reason to live, knowing ThunderClan would be safe with Fireheart as the new leader.

After Bluekit and Snowkit hid from them, Patchkit claimed that Dapplepaw promised to lead them there, but Leopardkit reminded him that they were not old enough to leave camp. Dapplepaw decided to lead them as far as the ravine.

Answer: Stonepelt

Stonepelt, although angry from being woken up, guessed that they were Moonflower's kits. He asked if they were looking for Stormtail, and Snowkit eagerly asked if he was there. After saying no, Stonepelt realized that they were hiding from Leopardkit and Patchkit because they wanted to explore the camp for themselves, but he told them a good warrior learns from his Clanmates.

After he left to eat, Snowkit snapped at Bluekit about why she had to hide there, and told her that they would have known if they had stayed with Leopardkit and Patchkit. Later, Stormtail said Stonepelt had told him of the incident, and to stay out of the warriors' den.

Answer: Featherwhisker

Bluekit was puzzled how Featherwhisker knew her name, and he told her he was at her kitting. Bluekit asked if he would tell Pinestar, and he replied yes because he would smell the scent anyway. He assured him that she wouldn't get in trouble, and that Pinestar would admire her curiosity. Snowkit asked if she could go in too, but Featherwhisker said that two kits inside would smell like nosiness.

He then takes them to show them the elders' den.

While in the elders' den, Bluekit and Snowkit heard Mumblefoot criticizing Goosefeather, as he was snoring near a tree during the morning. Featherwhisker replied by saying he knew how to use every herb in the forest, and Larksong told Mumblefoot that he shouldn't be saying such stuff as he knew Bluekit and Snowkit were kin with him, as he was Moonflower's littermate, and Moonflower was their mother.

Answer: Thrushpelt

Bluekit observed Thrushpelt and noticed he had green eyes and some white on his chest that looked like a cloud. She asked Moonflower if he had grown properly, and she told her that he was the youngest warrior, made a warrior only a quarter moon ago.

Answer: Poppy seeds

Snowkit first dared Bluekit to eat something, which she didn't because it tasted bad. Then she retaliated by daring her to eat some small, black seeds, which were poppy seeds. Snowkit lapped up two right before Moonflower caught them. After figuring out she only ate two poppy seeds, Goosefeather said she would be okay, and that the poppy seeds would just make her drowsy.

Answer: Sweetbriar

Poppydawn named one of her kits Sweetkit in memory of her. Later, before the battle with WindClan, Pinestar told Bluepaw that Sweetbriar told him to eat a shrew before a battle, but Pinestar was too nervous, hid it behind his back when she wasn't looking, and said it was delicious. Sweetbriar didn't believe him and told him to actually eat it.

Answer: Sunfall

Bluekit padded toward the gorse barrier in the early morning. Sunfall saw her and asked her if she wanted to come out of camp with him. She then asked if she would get in trouble, but Sunfall told her she wouldn't if he was with her. Together they climbed the ravine. When Bluekit got back, Moonflower rushed over and began to scold her for sneaking out of camp.

When Snowpaw returned with the catch, Goosefeather congratulated her and told them they were both great hunters. But as he looked closer to admire to it, he froze and yowled, claiming it was an omen that WindClan would destroy them. The fur was flattened, which Goosefeather said meant that the forest would be crushed by WindClan. Because of this and the prey-stealing from WindClan, they decided to attack. Right before the battle, he found a piece of catmint on the vole's flank, which he said meant that they had to attack their camp and destroy their medicine supply.
