Gregor's family lives in a cramped apartment in NYC. Along with with Gregor are his mom, grandma, and two sisters Boots and Lizzie.

2. How does Gregor find his way to the Underland the first time he visits?

Answer: He follows Boots down an air duct in the apartment's laundry room.

Gregor was asked to babysit his little sister Boots and while he was doing his family's laundry downstairs, he lost track of her location. As he was searching the laundry room for her, he found one of her red mittens by the air duct and followed her through the open grate.

3. When Gregor and Boots arrive in the Underland, they are greeted by strange creatures. What are they?

Answer: Giant cockroaches

The roaches develop a special bond with Gregor's sister Boots. As the story unfolds, Gregor realizes that he underestimates these creatures' intelligence and loyalty.

Regalia was populated by humans with nearly translucent skin, silvery hair, and violet eyes. At first they regard Gregor and Boots with suspicion, but then realize that he may be more than he appears.

This prophecy describes circumstances eerily parallel to those surrounding Gregor and Boots' appearance in the Underland. It also bestows very special titles upon both Gregor and Boots which play a significant role in guiding their fate.

Henry's betrayal surprised and enraged his cousin Luxa and his bond Ares who were both mortal enemies of the rats.

Gregor runs away from the rest of the Questers and the rats pursue him in a crazed fury. When he leaps off of the cliff they either cannot stop in time or voluntarily follow right after him. Gregor is saved by Henry's bond, Ares, who allows Henry to crash into the rocks at the bottom of the abyss with his rat allies.
