While in the Nova Corps prison he got them attacked by prisoners when he wouldn't drop the ruse of being a guard. When he was undercover as a person who hated Nova Corps, he ended up attacking Starlord.

Gamora had been one of Thanos' top agents before she chose to turn away from evil and join the Guardians. In this episode she pretended to turn back to Thanos' side and pit his other two top agents against each other. She hadn't informed her friends of the planned deception ahead of time, though.

Ronan had been presumed dead prior to the animated series starting, but his Universal Weapon was still floating around in the universe. In the previous episode, the Guardians had found it. Rocket was a genetically altered creature who resembled a racoon from Earth. His planet, Half World, was the home to a testing lab where other animals were also altered. While back on his home planet, he found that most of the other animals had become sentient like he had.
