Answer: Pikachu

This information is given by Dawn's Pokedex in the episode "Two Degrees of Separation" when Dawn first finds Ash's Pikachu. It is also the only electric type pokemon Ash has ever owned. Pachirisu is native to the Sinnoh Region and has cheeks like Pikachu, but is a squirrel, not a mouse. Elekid is native to the Johto Region. Zapdos is native to the Kanto Region.

2. The Monkey Pokemon. It easily climbs the sheerest of walls and lives on mountain tops. When it sleeps, its flames go out.

Answer: Chimchar

This information is given by Ash's Pokedex in the episode "When Pokemon Worlds Collide" in Ash's first battle against Paul and Ash meets his Chimchar, who was under Paul's control for a while before Ash took it in as his own Pokemon. However, it incorrectly classifies Chimchar as the Monkey Pokemon, while Chimchar's real species is the Chimp Pokemon. Charmander is native to the Kanto Region. Torchic is native to the Hoenn Region. Cyndaquil is native to the Johto Region. Ash's Chimchar eventually evolves into a Monferno. Ash has owned all of these fire type starter pokemon except for Torchic. Coincidentally, Ash saved all the fire type starters he has owned from an abusive trainer (Paul was abusive to Chimchar, Damien was abusive to Charmander, and Cyndaquil was almost captured by Koji, a trainer who would have abused it).

3. The Sea Weasel Pokemon. It stores air in the sacs on its neck and uses them as a flotation device, and swims by spinning its two tails like a propeller.

Answer: Buizel

This information is given by Dawn's Pokedex in the episode "Buizel Your Way Out of This" when Ash and Dawn both encountered a Buizel and attempted to catch it, with Dawn succeeding. Dawn traded this Buizel later on to Ash for his Aipom in the episode "Throwing the Track Switch." Squirtle is native to the Kanto Region. Mudkip is native to the Hoenn Region. Totodile is native to the Johto Region.

4. The Land Shark Pokemon. This Pokemon is a dual type dragon/ground type Pokemon. It once lived in the tropics, and to avoid the cold, it lives in caves warmed by geothermal heat.

Answer: Gible

This information was given by Khoury's Pokedex in the episode "A Rivalry to Gible On" when Ash and Khoury both encountered a Gible and attempted to catch it, with Khoury succeeding. Ash eventually captured one later on in the episode "Gotta Get a Gible." He first met this Gible in "A Meteoric Rise to Excellence." Barry also wanted to catch this Gible, but Ash ended up succeeding. Gible is Ash's very first dragon type Pokemon that he has ever owned. Dratini is native to the Kanto Region. Bagon and Latias are both native to the Hoenn Region.

5. The Tiny Leaf Pokemon. Its shell is made of hard earth, and when it absorbs water, it becomes harder.

Answer: Turtwig

This information was given by Ash's Pokedex in the episode "Gettin' Twiggy With It" when Ash first met his Turtwig after it saved Pikachu from Team Rocket. Bulbasaur is native to the Kanto Region. Treecko is native to the Hoenn Region. Chikorita is native to the Johto Region. Ash's Turtwig eventually evolves into a Grotle. Coincidentally, Ash has owned each of these grass type starter Pokemon.

6. The Starling Pokemon. It normally travels in a flock, but when alone, it is hard to notice.

Answer: Starly

This information was given by Ash's Pokedex in the episode "Two Degrees of Separation" when Ash's Aipom collided with Starly and Ash captured it. Pidgey is native to the Kanto Region. Taillow is native to the Hoenn Region. Hoothoot is native to the Johto Region. Ash's Starly eventually evolves into a Staravia. Coincidentally, Ash has owned the flying type in each region.

However, Ash did not capture a Hoothoot, but a Noctowl, the evolved form of a Hoothoot, which was also Ash's first shiny Pokemon.

7. The Playful Pokemon, and the evolved form of Chimchar. It controls its flaming tail to keep its opponent at an ideal distance when battling.

Answer: Monferno

This information was given by Dawn's Pokedex in the episode "Evolving Strategies" when Ash's Chimchar evolved into a Monferno during Ash's full 6 on 6 pokemon battle with Paul. When Chimchar evolved into a Monferno, it immediately learned the fighting type move Mach Punch. Monferno eventually evolves into an Infernape. Charmeleon evolves from Charmander, Combusken evolves from Torchic, and Quilava evolves from Cyndaquil.

8. The Grove Pokemon, and the evolved form of Turtwig. It lives near water in forests, and leaves the forest during the day to allow light to shine on the tree on its shell.

Answer: Grotle

This information was given by Ash's Pokedex in the episode "Aiding the Enemy" when his Turtwig evolved into a Grotle during a battle against Paul and his Honchkrow. Grotle eventually evolves into a Torterra. Ivysaur evolves from Bulbasaur, Grovyle evolves from Treecko, and Bayleef evolves from Chikorita.

9. The Starling Pokemon. It flies over forests and fields, and travels in large flocks.

Answer: Staravia

This information was given by Dawn's Pokedex in the episode "A Starvia is Born" when Ash's Starly evolves into Staravia while battling Team Rocket. When Staravia evolved, it immediately perfected the flying type move Aerial Ace, a move it was having trouble mastering as a Starly, and sent Team Rocket blasting off. Ash's Staravia eventually evolves into a Staraptor. Pidgeotto evolves from Pidgey, Swellow evolves from Taillow, and Noctowl evolves from Hoothoot.

10. The Flame Pokemon, and the evolved form of Monferno. Its fiery crown reflects its fiery nature, and its speed is unmatched.

Answer: Infernape

This information was given by Dawn's Pokedex in the episode "Fighting Ire with Fire" when Ash's Monferno evolved into an Infernape while battling Team Rocket. During a battle with Barry, Monferno's ability Blaze was activated and Monferno lost control and started going on a rampage. Ash was able to calm Monferno down and Monferno was able to control Blaze at the last minute and saved Ash's Pikachu, Dawn's Piplup, Barry's Empoleon, and Paul's Electabuzz from being crushed by Team Rocket's machine. Charizard evolves from Charmeleon, Blaziken evolves from Combusken, and Typhlosion evolves from Quilava.
