The presents were the doorman's coat for Hugo, so he didn't look like a hunchback, a long black robe for Colette, so she could do contortions without anyone noticing. Esmé gave Kevin a small piece of rope to tie one of his hands behind his back. Esmé gave Chabo (Sunny) a razor to trim some of her hair, and Beverly and Elliot (Violet and Klaus) a bag to put over one of their heads.

Lemony Snicket chose the incorrect spelling 'worf' because it was one of Sunny's expressions which meant "I don't even think we should stay put. I think we should leave right now."
