Answer: A single slipper

Inside the Hopping Pot was a single slipper which would quieten the Hopping Pot if the Wizard's son thought to use it. It was eventually used in the end of the story after the son had seen sense to use the 'worthless' gift. He fitted the slipper onto the brass foot which was sticking out of the end of the Hopping Pot, and this silenced the pot, which made him able to sleep once more.

Answer: Three

There were three Witches in this story; Asha, Altheda and Amata. All of these Witches wanted to reach the Fountain of Fair Fortune to relieve themselves of their troubles. Asha was very ill and needed a cure for her malady. Altheda had been robbed by a powerful wizard and wanted to be relieved of her poverty, and Amata had been abandoned by her lover and wanted to be relieved of her loneliness.

The first trick the King performed was making a hat disappear. This was done by the magic of Babbitty Rabbitty, who was secretly a witch. The King thought he was magic, which was the reason why he was showing these 'tricks' to the public. However, he was not, so Babbitty Rabbitty had to help him.

The Maiden and the Warlock are both killed by the Warlock in this tragic love story. The Warlock takes the heart from the young Maiden, which meant that she died because she didn't have a heart. The Warlock died because he took out his heart to replace it with the Maiden's heart. but he could not but it back quickly enough and he died, with the heart in one hand and the dead Maiden in the other.

In the introduction to the series of short stories JK Rowling states that Beedle the Bard live in Yorkshire and had 'an exceptionally luxuriant beard'. JK Rowling, who was also the author of the 'Harry Potter' series, wrote the introduction to the book and also added a few details which explained terms from the Wizarding world for the Muggles (non-magic people) who would be reading the book.
