Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In I Samuel 17 David killed a giant. What does the Bible say the giant's name was?

Answer: Goliath

Goliath was a Philistine and the Israelites were afraid of him because he was a giant. David was the youngest of his brothers and he went to King Saul and said he wanted to fight Goliath. David wasn't scared because he believed the Lord would protect him. Using a sling and five stones, David defeated Goliath. Then he used Goliath's sword and cut off Goliath's head.
2. This man had a whole book written about him: his name was Job. He lost everything, but how much does the Bible say he got back?

Answer: twice as much as he had originally

In the beginning of Job, Satan and God are talking and Satan claims Job is only loyal to God because he has everything and no problems. So God allowed Satan to do anything but kill Job. So Job lost his animals and his children. He was even covered in boils which were very painful. But no matter what, Job would not curse God. In the end, God gave Job twice as much as he had before.
3. Jezebel was an evil woman. What happened to her body when she died?

Answer: The dogs ate it.

Jezebel was King Ahab's wife. She hated the Israelites and was always trying to harm them. One day, she was putting her make-up on when she was thrown off a balcony causing her to die. Then the dogs ate her flesh. This story can be found in 2 Kings 9:30-37.
4. Why were Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego thrown into the fiery furnace?

Answer: They wouldn't bow down to an idol.

The story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego can be found in Daniel 3. Nebuchadnezzar created a huge idol and told everyone in Babylon they must bow down to it. But those three refused to bow to an idol because they worshipped God. As a result, they were thrown into a fiery furnace, only they didn't burn.

The Bible says in Daniel 3:25 of the New King James Version it says, '"Look!" he answered, "I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God."'
5. How many people were on Noah's ark?

Answer: 8

On the Ark were Noah and his wife, Ham and his wife, Shem and his wife and Japheth and his wife. That is 8 people. There were also a lot of animals on the ark. You can read about Noah's ark in Genesis 6-8.
6. The wise men brought three gifts to Jesus: gold, frankincense and what else?

Answer: myrrh

You can read about this in Matthew 2:1-12. Some Bible scholars (people who really study the Bible and know a lot about it) have said the gifts represent different things. The gold represents Jesus' sovereign domain. The frankincense represents His sinless Deity. The myrrh represents His sacrificial death.
7. Whom did Jesus raise from the dead after four days?

Answer: Lazarus

Lazarus was very sick so his sisters sent word to Jesus that He must come and heal Lazarus. Jesus did not return to Bethany where Lazarus was for four days. By that time Lazarus had been dead for four days. The Bible said when they told him Lazarus was dead, He wept.

He then raised Lazarus from the dead. The reason he didn't heal Lazarus when he was sick was He wanted to show that along with all the other miracles He performed, He could bring people back from the dead. You can read about Lazarus in John 11.
8. What did Peter do to the man named Malchus?

Answer: Cut off his ear

Peter cut off Malchus' ear with a sword because he was angry that they had arrested Jesus. Jesus healed the man's ear and told Peter, 'Jesus commanded Peter, "Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?"' (John 18:11 New International Version). Jesus was basically telling Peter that it was part of the plan (for salvation) that He was arrested. Peter believed Jesus was the Son of God, but he didn't fully understand why He had to die.
9. How many times was Paul shipwrecked?

Answer: 3

Paul tells the people of Corinth this in his letters to them (2 Corinthians). Paul also tells them that he's been stoned (where people throw stones at you usually until you die), and that he was beaten with rods three times as well. Paul wasn't always a Christian, in fact his name wasn't always Paul.

He used to be known as Saul. You can read about Saul's conversion to Paul on the Road to Damascus in the book of Acts.
10. What island was John on when he wrote the book of Revelation?

Answer: Patmos

John wrote in Revelation 1:9 "I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus." (New International Version) John was exiled (kicked out of his homeland) because he believed in Jesus.

He was sent to Patmos, Greece where he spent the rest of his life. During that time he wrote the book of Revelation.
