Answer: Rod Laver

Born in Rockhampton, Queensland and nicknamed 'Rocket', Laver as a tennis-player had an immensely powerful left forearm, which was measurably much thicker than his right forearm. He turned professional after winning the grand slam in 1962 and was ineligible until professionals re-entered when the "open era" began in 1968. He is much honoured in Australia and has even appeared on a postage stamp.
