Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Apricot

Answer: Orange

Apricots are fruits of the genus Prunus (stone fruits), referring to their large seed, or stone within. Their flesh is usually firm and not very juicy and its taste can range from sweet to tart.

As a colour, apricot refers to the fruit after which it is named, and it can be described as a light yellowish-orangish colour that is somewhat paler than actual apricots.
2. Blood

Answer: Red

Of course you know what blood is, as it courses through your veins and keeps you alive. In reality, the colour of blood varies depending on its oxygen content.

And, as you might have expected, blood red is a dark shade of the colour red meant to resemble the colour of human blood.
3. Caramel

Answer: Brown

Caramel is a confection created by heating a variety of sugars. And it's yummy.

As a colour shade, caramel is described as a light yellowish-brown.
4. Cobalt

Answer: Blue

Cobalt is an element with the symbol 'Co' and the atomic number 27. It is a hard, lustrous, bluish-grey metal.

As a shade of blue, cobalt is described as a strong greenish blue.
5. Ebony

Answer: Black

Ebony is a dense, brownish-black hardwood. It is dense enough to sink in water.

As a colour, ebony is described as a very dark black color with undertones of brown and sometimes olive.
6. Lemon

Answer: Yellow

You already know that a lemon is a citrus fruit known for its distinctive sour taste.

And as you might expect, as shade, lemon is described as a pale yellow, the colour of the lemon fruit.
7. Mint

Answer: Green

Mint is an aromatic, perennial herb within the genus Mentha of the Lamiaceae family.

As a colour shade, mint is described as pale tint of green meant to approximate the colour of the mint plant.
8. Plum

Answer: Purple

Plums are a type of fruit within the genus Prunus. It's flesh is firm and juicy, and the smooth, waxy peel sticks to the flesh, which surrounds a single, hard seed.

The colour shade of plum is described as being a purple colour with a brownish-gray tinge, or a reddish purple, meant to represent the average colour of the plum fruit.
9. Salmon

Answer: Pink

Salmon is a typically anadromous (both salt and fresh water) fish known for its migratory habits, hatching in fresh water, making their way to the ocean, then returning to spawn in fresh water again.

Salmon as a colour is described as pinkish orange (based on the colour of the flesh, not the skin/scales).
10. Snow

Answer: White

Snow is defined as individual ice crystals that form in the atmosphere, then fall and accumulate on the ground. I call it a pain to deal with in the winter.

Snow white is described as a pure bright white without any yellow undertones.
