Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Although it is a much-debated historical fact, which flourishing empire eventually fell in A.D. 476?

Answer: Ancient Roman

This was the date of Rome's last emperor, Romulus Augustus. There are many arguments about the correctness of this date, but it is generally accepted by scholars, regardless.
2. Which literary character could not be put back together, despite the collective efforts of the king's horses and men?

Answer: Humpty Dumpty

There are many theories as to the origins of this nursery rhyme. One of the more popular ones is that it refers to the hunchbacked King Richard III of England. During the Battle of Bosworth Field he fell from his steed (named "Wall" as far as I've been able to determine). Being surrounded by enemy troops, the unfortunate king was hacked to pieces, hence the final line: "All the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't put Humpty together again."
3. In Christianity, which angel fell from the grace of the Lord?

Answer: Lucifer

Lucifer was an archangel and is held to be the same as Satan.
4. Which waterfall, the highest in the world, is located in Venezuela?

Answer: Angel

These four falls together (the four highest in the world) amass a total height of 11,177 feet, or 3,403 m (which is still less than half the height of Mt. Everest!). Angel Falls is the highest with 3,212 feet (979 m).
5. What sitcom character is famous for his rendition of the phrase, "I've fallen and I can't get up!"?

Answer: Steve Urkel

Played by Jaleel White, Steven Quincy Urkel is a nerdy genius in the show "Family Matters", who is madly in love with his neighbour's daughter, Laura Winslow. "I've fallen and I can't get up" originated from a commercial for the LifeCall medical alert system.
