"Ironiya Sudbi" (Irony of Fate) is a romantic comedy that premiered on New Years Eve in 1976. Since then, it has become a tradition to watch the movie every New Years Eve. The movie is about two identical homes that look alike, have the same address, and have the same number of floors. One is in Moscow and the other is in St. Petersburg.

In one lives a man, Zhenia, who is planning to meet the new year with his bride-to-be and in the other lives a woman, Nadia, who is planning to spend the New Year with her boyfriend.

Then, Zhenia gets drunk with his friends and they accidentally send him to St. Petersburg where he, in a drunken state, tells the taxi driver his address. He is taken to Nadia's place and the whole situation results in new love, separation, a lot of laughs, and a great holiday atmosphere.
