7. Which modern marvel was Thomas Edison not credited for inventing?

Answer: Radio

Edison was a great inventor but he did not invent the radio. The radio was invented by Guglielmo Marconi of Italy in 1895.
8. Who was the star of the first generally recognized talking movie?

Answer: Al Jolson

"The Jazz Singer" was released in 1927 by Warner Brothers. The movie still used written words on cards instead of standard dialogue, but it had singing and a little dialogue. The most famous song is "Mammy" sung in blackface by Al Jolson.
9. What was the last number one hit released in the USA by the Beatles as a group?

Answer: "The Long and Winding Road"

The Beatles broke up in 1970 after releasing their last album "Let it Be". "The Long and Winding Road" hit number one in 1970. The other three songs were early Beatle songs from 1963-1964.
10. At the end of the twentieth century, which of the following was not a territorial possession of the United States?

Answer: Hawaii

Hawaii was not a territorial possession, but a state like California and New York. All of these lands were "acquired" by the United States in war with Spain in 1898 along with Cuba and the Phillipines. Hawaii became the 50th state in 1959.
