Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is 2 AND 2?

Answer: 2

AND is a computer binary bit comparison function which compares aligned bits in same-length binary groupings (nibbles, bytes, words, etc.) and carries a 1 into the solution when ever a 1 from each of the 2 comparison values is aligned in that position. 2 (0010) AND 2 (0010) = 2 (0010). 1 (0001) AND 3 (0011) = 1 (0001). 5 (0101) and 10 (1010) = 0 (0000). 5 (0101) and 6 (0110) = 4 (0100). If a 1 aligns with a 1, the 1 is carried into the answer. If a 1 or 0 aligns with a 0, the 0 is carried into the answer.
2. Who was the first president of the United States?

Answer: Hanson

George Washington, the first person elected as President of the United States UNDER OUR CURRENT CONSTITUTION, took office April 30, 1789. From 1781 through 1789, eight men (John Hanson (1781-82), Elias Boudinot (1782-83), Thomas Mifflin (1783-84), Richard Henry Lee (1784-85), John Hancock (1785-86), Nathan Gorman (1786-87), Arthur St. Clair (1787-88), and Cyrus Griffin (1788-89)) served as 'Presidents of the United States'.

5. The man who opened the first successful restaurant dedicated to serving primarily 'Kentucky Fried Chicken' was:

Answer: Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy's

Thomas was given the task of getting a failing restaurant to turn a profit. He traded free meals for radio ads, and found out the radio staff were especially fond of the chicken dinners. Of all the items on the restaurant menu, the chicken dinners were preferred by people who had eaten there. Thomas came up with a radical idea - just sell chicken and get rid of the rest of the menu.

He contacted the vendor who supplied the fried chicken to the restaurant, and discussed his plan. 'Colonel' Harlan Sanders, who had supplied the chicken to several restaurants for several years, sent a shipment to Thomas on consignment. Thomas, by reducing inventory and cooking procedures, drastically cut back the restaurant's overhead, and was able to sell the chicken dinners in bulk at discount prices.

It was the first Kentucy Fried Chicken Restaurant, and eventually led to Colonel Sanders becoming nationally known. Thomas continued in the restaurant business and went on to start his own hamburger chain.
