Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where would you be most likely to spot a "bindi"?

Answer: The middle of someone's forehead

A "Bindi" is the colored dot worn on the forehead of women of the Hindu faith.
2. What are the missing words from this Oscar Wilde quotation? "The difference between literature and journalism is that journalism is unreadable and literature is _____ _____"

Answer: not read

Oscar Wilde was quite a controversial character for his time. He had a wonderful wit, perhaps developed while trying to learn to write his full name: Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde ;)
3. Arachibutyrophobia is the fear of having what stick to the roof of your mouth?

Answer: peanut butter

There are myriad phobias, but this is one of my favorites. I can never remember it off the tip of my tongue (so to speak). Trying to pronounce it gives me hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, or fear of long words.
4. What is the Latin phrase that translates to "let the buyer beware"?

Answer: caveat emptor

'Caveat emptor', or buyer beware, is not a new sentiment. After all, the ancient Romans found it necessary to coin the phrase. 'Carpe diem' translates to 'seize the day', 'cogito ergo sum' is 'I think therefore I am', and 'compos mentis' is 'of sound mind'.
5. According to a Car Talk (an American Public Radio talk show) poll, which car was voted "Worst Car of the Millennium"?

Answer: Yugo

The Yugo won with 33% of the vote. The Ford Pinto came in 3rd place with about 12%. The Edsel was not on the list at all. The AMC Gremlin finished 4th on the list. I had to include it because the first car I ever owned was a Gremlin, complete with FM adaptor and 8-Track player. I sold it for $150 after it ran out of gas the first time.
6. Which of these movies did not star Eddie Murphy?

Answer: "Blue Streak"

Martin Lawrence was the star of 1999's "Blue Streak". Eddie Murphy starred in "Holy Man" in 1998. He co-starred with Martin Lawerence in "Boomerang" in 1992, and "Life" in 1999.
7. Which US state was the last to open a Starbucks Coffee franchise?

Answer: West Virginia

West Virginia became the 50th state to open a 'full-fledged' Starbucks on December 5, 2003. In contrast the first one opened in Seattle, Washington in 1971. West Virginia already has two Starbucks stands, but this will be the first complete Starbucks Coffee in the state.
8. Before finalizing its name, which NFL team also considered naming themselves the Apollos, Bobcats, Stallions, and Wildcatters?

Answer: Houston Texans

The Houston Texans took 11 months to settle on its team name, using focus groups to do so. The other choices may have been fitting, but perhaps too similar to other teams playing. The Kansas City Chiefs started out as the Dallas Texans in 1960, but changed it when they moved in 1963.

Info for this question was found at http://www.nfl-wagering-picks.com/nfl_nicknames.htm check it out for explanations of each team's name.
9. Which of the following is considered a secondary color?

Answer: purple

A secondary color is made by combining any two primary colors (red, yellow, and blue). On a basic color wheel you can find the secondary color directly opposite of the primary color that was not used to make it. In this example red and blue make purple, which can be found opposite of yellow.
10. What novelty song did Buckner & Garcia have a Top 10 hit with in 1982?

Answer: "Pac-Man Fever"

Buckner & Garcia's album "Pac Man Fever" is slated for re-release on CD. Woo hoo! Other cuts from this slice of early '80s nostalgia include "Ode To A Centipede", "Froggy's Lament", and "Do The Donkey Kong".
