In June 2001, for the programme "Ripley's: Believe It or Not", a stunt man named Dave Baria went up to 10,000 feet in a helicopter and then threw himself out attached only to 1,800 feet of bungee cord. The stunt man, when the cord had reached its maximum stretching point, had fallen 6,000 feet setting the new record.

The record is held by the Coral reef pygmy goby (Eviota sigillata). A team from the James Cook university in Australia wrote about the small fish in science journal "Current Biology". The previous holder of the title was the African fish turquoise killifish (Nothobranchius furzeri) which lives in the seasonal rain pools of equatorial Africa and must complete its life cycle before the pool dries up.

But if you include ties then the record goes to the 1916 New York Giants who won 14 games in a row then tied one before winning a further 12 games.

The flight time is, generally, two to three minutes in length. Though the quickest time, to cover the 1.5 nautical miles distance, was 58 seconds by Capt. Andrew Alsop.

It stands 173.7 metres tall and has a 220 ton commemorative star on top of it. It was created to commemorate the site of the Battle of San Jacinto which had been fought on April 21, 1836.
