Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which UK TV show was introduced each week with the words "From Norwich it's the quiz of the week"?

Answer: Sale of the Century

'Take your Pick' was compered by Michael Miles and included the infamous 'Yes/No' interlude. 'Double your Money' was compered by Hughie Green. 'This is your Life' was most famously compered by Eamon Andrews and not all his 'victims' were happy to have their life broadcasted and I can't say I blame them. It makes me squirm to think of my baby pictures paraded for all to see.
2. What is the national flower of Mexico?

Answer: Dahlia

The chrysanthemum is the national flower of Japan and the rose is of England. Do cacti have flowers? Well I suppose they must have but mine never do. I am the only person I know who can kill a cactus. Apparently they don't like being drowned.
3. It was announced in 2003 by Cambridge scientists that humans evolved from which creature?

Answer: Aardvarks

Anyone for crispy fried ants?
4. Which kitchen item is also the name of a male ferret?

Answer: Hob

I have a vision now of a kettle, a spoon and a pan going down a rabbit hole ... but I digress.
5. For which film did Art Garfunkel sing 'Bright Eyes'?

Answer: Watership Down

'Watership Down' was an animated film about rabbits moving home and the trials and tribulations that occurred on the way. 'Bambi' was about a fawn growing up. 'Black Beauty' was written to highlight the atrocious way horses used to be treated. 'Dumbo' was a baby elephant living in a circus.
6. What does a Grabologist collect?

Answer: Ties

Handbags, shoes and dresses have always been a woman's prerogative so this one is for the gents.
7. What name is given to a baby kangaroo?

Answer: Joey

When baby kangaroos are born they are the size of a bean and completely hairless. They have to crawl up the mother's fur to get into her pouch, where they latch onto a teat. Pooh was 'a bear of little brain' who hung around with Christopher Robin. Skippy was in a TV series and always warning a child about unfortunate people falling down mines..apparently they were the only ones who could understand dubbed kangaroo talk.

A jumbuck is a sheep as in the song 'Waltzing Matilda', though how he got one in his tucker bag is beyond me.
8. In 'Blackadder', which vegetable was Baldrick obsessed with?

Answer: Turnip

If you are going to be obsessed with a vegetable a turnip is as good as any, although taking into consideration the apparent smelliness of the character, an onion might have been more appropriate.
9. What type of snake was depicted on the headdresses of Egyptian Pharaohs?

Answer: Cobra

Is this what is called hissstory?
10. What would your job be if you used a Queen Excluder?

Answer: Bee Keeper

Hatmakers used to use chemicals that eventually affected the brain thus the saying 'Mad as a Hatter'. And on that note I will now buzz off.
