Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I've recently put in a goat and a sheep into my machine. What do you think came out?

Answer: Geep

This combination is very rare because goats and sheep belong to different genera. Sheep are of the Ovis while goats belong to Capra, and because of these gene differences, most geeps are stillborn.
2. Two birds- a peregrine falcon and a merlin flew into my house and started pecking each other. To make them see that they have to fight together, not against each other, I made them into one giant birdie! But what is it?

Answer: Perlin

This animal is bigger, stronger and faster than a regular merlin, but is not that big compared to other birds. This creature flies low. The rule is that the falcon is the mother, and the merlin the father.
3. I was hungry, and I love tangerines and grapefruits. I didn't know what to pick, so I put them into the machine and chose both!

Answer: Tangelo

This is a super juicy fruit which was created in 1911 by a biologist named Walter Swingle. Compared to a regular tangerine, this fruit is huge! Grapefruits are also called pomelos--that's where the end of the name comes from.
4. My two pets, a donkey and a zebra, kept on fighting over the slop bucket. I couldn't deal with them, so I made them into one! What did I get?

Answer: Zonkey

This unusual animal has the legs of a zebra and the gray body of a donkey, with a few black stripes across it. The head is the size of a donkey's, and looks like a zebra, with the ears of the donkey!
5. A ball python and a carpet python were attacking my garden animals. Who would've thought that when I took them for an experiment, they would turn out as the king of snakes! But what did I get?

Answer: Carball

Unlike what I thought in the beginning, boas and pythons cannot mix to make a hybrid. The combination I got was super strong and quick, as well as agile and deadly. I once gave it a living mouse to see what would happen, and the python was having dinner in less than three seconds.
6. Picking two ripe garden fruit was easy for me. A lime and a kumquat were inserted. But I have trouble figuring out what it is. Can you help me?

Answer: Limequat

This king combo takes out the acidity from the citrus fruit, and instead replaces it with a sweet, soft skin, although most people aren't ready for the tang. Just like the tangelo, Walter Swingle made the first of these.
7. My first combo was from a cow and a wild yak. This is my tenth one of these. But maybe, before I sell it, you can tell me what's going to come out?

Answer: Dzo

Tibet and Mongolia were the first countries to show interest in my dzo because of the amount of fine meat and milk they produce. The dzo is stronger and bigger than both cows and yaks. However, it's believed that both animals have newly contaminated genes.
8. Two ducks (Pekin and Muscovy) in my pond were fighting over bread. Linking them together made a fascinating combination! But what came out?

Answer: Mulard

The mulard is one of the few hybrids which cannot produce offspring. It was originally created to be an alternate food source for many people.
9. Plums and apricots peak at June and July, and two of these from my local farmer's market created a fascinating combination. Have a bite, and tell me what it is.

Answer: Plumcot

Juicy, soft, and slightly bigger than a regular apricot, these beauties have rippling orange eatable parts and kernels just like regular apricots. Try some from the bowl over there.
10. Finally, my best hybrid which nobody has created before. A ferocious male jaguar with a cunning lioness created a deadly cat which lies at the foot of my bed. Care to tell me what it is?

Answer: Jaglion

Ferocious, quick, strong, and deadly. Keen eyesight and hunting instincts make this cat one of the most deadly hunters from the cat family. It is also able to climb small stony ledges, as well as frighten their prey with their black skin and yellow eyes.
