The Dusseldorfer Schauspielhaus opened in 1970, though the site has been home to dramatic productions since at least the mid-18th century. It became a public theater in 1818. The Deutsche Oper am Rhein is primarily an opera and ballet theater. It was built in 1875 but destroyed during World War II. It reopened in 1956.
3. The NRW Forum is a museum in Dusseldorf dedicated to what?

The NRW Forum opened in 1970 to celebrate the local industry. However, over time that changed and the museum became a place that exhibits the changing economy over time. Some exhibits, which are constantly changing, show off advertising, the Volkswagen Beetle and photography. The museum is located in the Ehrenhof Complex.
4. Dusseldorf is subdivided into ten districts that are called what?

Answer: Stadtbezirke

The ten districts of Dusseldorf are identified just by numbers one to ten, with district one containing the city center. Each Stadtbezirk is further divided into Stadtteile (literally: city parts or boroughs) of which there are a total of fifty. Stadtteile each have a historical name; most of them are former independent villages now incorporated into the city. District three, the harbor district, has the most parts at eight; the largest in area is the northern district five, which also contains Dusseldorf's airport.
5. Though Dusseldorf is the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, it is not the largest city in the state. Which rival city is the largest in North Rhine-Westphalia?

Answer: Cologne

Cologne (Koln in German) is the fourth largest city in Germany, and in 2010 was the first one in North Rhine-Westphalia to have surpassed a million residents. It is located just across the Rhine from Dusseldorf although the cities' territories do not directly touch. The rivalry mentioned refers, for one, to the Rhenish carnival of which Cologne and Dusseldorf are two of the three main representatives (the third is Mainz), but also to the cities' respective preferred beers: Dusseldorf is famous for its Altbier, a dark ale, while Cologne prefers the light blonde Kolsch.
6. The borough of Hafen is traditionally said to be home of which industry in the city?

Answer: Media

Many media corporations, both domestic and international, have headquarters in the Hafen district of Dusseldorf. Hafen is also home to many cinemas, bars and restaurants. The borough of Unterbilk, which borders Hafen, is also home to a large chunk of the media industry.
7. If you want to reach Dusseldorf by car, you will likely arrive on one of the German Autobahns. Which German Autobahn would not be a good choice to drive on since it does NOT come near Dusseldorf?

Answer: A10

A3 is one of the nine major Autobahns of Germany, beginning at the Dutch border and traversing Germany in a south-easterly direction terminating at the Austrian border in Bavaria. Both A44 and A46 are two of the four roughly east-west oriented Autobahns serving the Rhine-Ruhr area along with their two more northerly cousins A40 and A42. A10, however, is the Berlin Ring, the only Autobahn ring road in Germany and located over 400 km away from Dusseldorf.
8. What exactly is the Konigsallee, which is the busiest of its kind in Germany?

Answer: A luxury shopping street

Konigsallee literally means "King's Avenue". It earned that name from an incident in 1848 when someone threw manure at King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. It runs alongside a canal. It is lined with luxury department stores and other upscale buildings, hotels and showrooms. It is also one of the centers of the German fashion industry. It is affectionately called Ko by the Germans.
9. Which building is the tallest in Dusseldorf and is also the world's largest digital clock?

Answer: Rheinturm

The Rheinturm opened in 1982 at a height of 789 feet or 240.5 meters. It resembles the Seattle Space Needle in appearance and like the Space Needle, it has an observation deck and a revolving restaurant. At night, the tower lights up and turns into a digital clock by displaying the time.

The light sculpture part of the tower is called Lichtzeitpegel which means light time level in English.
10. Dusseldorf boasts its own airport with the IATA code DUS. Which of these best describes this airport?

Answer: A major international airport capable of handling all kinds of planes

While not nearly as large as Frankfurt and Munich airports, Dusseldorf Airport, also called Rhine-Ruhr-Airport, is one of the major German airports and serves all aircraft types including the "Superjumbo" Airbus A380. Most routes from Dusseldorf are to international European targets, but intercontinental connections, particularly to North America, are served as well.

The airport made international headlines in 1996, after a fire killed 17 passengers in the terminal buildings A and B and injured at least 60 more. Rebuilding was finished in 2001.
