Lake Baikal, located in the southern part of eastern Siberia in Russia, is the deepest lake of the world. It is up to 5,314 feet deep and holds over 20% of the world's total unfrozen freshwater. It has an area of about 12,200 square miles, with a length of 395 miles and an average width of thirty miles.
