Saigon was the former name of Ho Chi Minh city. It was the name of the city since 1860. This is the largest city in Vietnam and the fastest growing. When the country was separated into North and South Vietnam it was the capital of the latter. It was renamed after the political hero, Ho Chi Minh.

This museum has mementos of the old prison, many of which represent the Vietnamese War in a negative fashion.

Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park is located 43 miles inland and is accessible by boats. It has one of the largest caves in the world and is fed by the Chay and the Son Rivers. The park is home to saolas, macaques, and gibbons.
