Gordonvale is a small town nestled amongst the sugar cane fields. at the intersection of the Bruce and Gillies Highways.

Answer: The Bruce Highway

The Gillies Highway also starts in Gordonvale it connects with the Artherton Tablelands in the west?

Answer: Sugar Cane Farming

Gordonvale is surrounded by cane farms and is the home of the Mulgrave Central Mill, a sugar cane crushing facility.

The Mulgrave river is very scenic and has some great swimming spots and we are too far upstream for crocodiles. However in 'The Wet' it floods repeatedly and can be very treacherous.

Gordonvale lies in the Wet Tropics Of Far North Queensland. Most of our rain is Monsoonal and falls in The Wet Season between December and April. Winter is warm and dryer. September to December, in the Spring, is the best time to visit.

Walsh's pyramid is extremely steep, there are no roads to the top and the tracks are very rugged. You have to be extremely fit, tough and foolhardy just to finish.

Answer: John Gordon A local farmer

Yes it was John Gordon a local pioneer and farmer who somtimes worked as a butcher.

Answer: Norman Park

No not named after my cat 'Norman', who is beautiful and should have a park named after him, but because it is situated on Norman Street. Norman Park Has gigantic tropical trees, tennis courts, a pavillion and public toilets. What more could you want?

Answer: John Gordon

John stands there proudly with his hoe and water bag. He will even give you a drink if you ask him nicely.

Answer: Mosaics and Plaques

Though you can sometimes find the others, The Friends of Gordonvale have inlayed many beautiful mosaics and plaques that tell of the history of the town.

Norman Street Runs Between Norman Park and the shops (stores)on the other side of the street. Most of the shops in Gordonvale are small, there are a few pubs and two banks (one closing soon)

The green patch is for casual overnight camperes only, though there are some who use it as a permanent address.

Gordonvale Hospital is a small, public, country hospital. If you have to be sick, with it's friendly staff and beautiful setting, there are worse places you could be.

It is a bit of a shame really as its existance precludes the planting of too many trees, though the back nine more than makes up for this.
