The White River then empties out into the Wabash River located along the Indiana/Illinois border in the southwest.

The American Legion was founded in 1919 by a group of American soldiers in Paris, France following World War I. The reason for the nickname is that the track features a one yard wide line of bricks near the finish line. Since 1996, it has become a tradition for drivers to kiss the bricks before they race.
