Warwickshire is the birthplace of William Shakespeare. It is separated from Shropshire by a thin arm off Staffordshire and Worcestershire.
2. What is the county flower of Shropshire?

Answer: Round-leaved Sundew

Round-leaved Sundews are carnivorous plants that can be found easily in the north of the county on boggy and peaty soils. They trap insects and other invertebrates by using sticky pads on the surface of their leaves.
3. Which of these is NOT a church in the county town of Shrewsbury?

Answer: St. Matthews

St. Chad's is notable for being one of the few round churches in England. The spires of St. Mary's, St. Alkmund's and St. Chad's are all integral to the town's distinctive skyline.
4. Wem is a small town in North Shropshire. Which plant was first bred there in 1888?

Answer: Sweet Pea

Henry Eckford began field trials on Sweet Peas in Wem in 1888 and was responsible for creating the first of the now distinctive sweet peas.

One of Shropshire's most infamous associations is with the Leyland Cypress (Leylandii), which was first bred at Leigton Hall Powys and was owned by the Corbett family of Shropshire.

The coldest recorded temperature in England was -26.1 degrees C on the 10 January 1982 in Shawbury, Shropshire.

Shawbury is also home to an RAF base.

Answer: Perry

The Perry joins the Severn at Montford Bridge, north of Shrewsbury. The Onny does flow in Shropshire, but its waters join the Teme, which in turn flows into the Severn near Worcester.

Answer: Llanymynech

Llanymynech is a limestone outcrop on the Welsh border, west of Oswestry and in the north of the county. The other three hills are well-known landmarks of the south Shropshire countryside.

Answer: Brown Clee

Brown Clee is part of the Shropshire Hills "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" and like many high points in the county, it has an iron age hill fort at the summit.

Answer: Muller Dairy

The Muller Dairy is situated outside Market Drayton in the northeastern corner of the county. It uses milk from the many dairy farms in the region to create its products.

Buzzard populations declined massively during the last century, disappearing from much of eastern and southern England. However Shropshire has long been the home of the English stronghold.

Charles Darwin attended the school from 1818 and famously said that: "Nothing could have been worse for my development than Dr. Butler's school as it was strictly classical, nothing else being taught except a little ancient geography and history".
