Croatia has eight national parks which together cover the area of 994 square kilometers (whereas the total area of Croatia is 56,594 square kilometers). Those national parks are: Brijuni, Krka, Kornati, North Velebit, Mljet, Plitvice Lakes, Risnjak and Paklenica.

Croatia is situated on the coast of the Adriatic Sea and many Croats as well as tourists visit the Croatian seaside at summer. Therefore tourism is very important to the country's economy.

Answer: Roman Catholic

Almost 90% of Croats are Roman Catholic. The second largest religious group are Eastern Orthodox (about 4%), and those are mostly people of Serbian origin. Another significant group are Muslims.

Answer: Statehood Day

Statehood Day is celebrated on 25 June in commemoration of the Declaration of Croatian Independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. Statehood Day used to be celebrated on 30 May (the day the first multi-party parliament was assembled), but that was changed in 2002.

Independence Day is celebrated on 8 October, as a reminder of this day in 1991, when the ties with SFRJ were formally severed (there was a moratorium after the declaration on 25 June). Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Defenders is celebrated on the 5th August, in commemoration of the Operation Storm which marked the victory in the Homeland War.

The Anti-Fascist Struggle Day is celebrated on 22 June, as a reminder of 22 June 1941 when the First Sisak Partisan Detachment was formed to fight fascism.
