Louisiana was the 18th state to be admitted to the Union. There has been a great debate about whether Louisiana is located in the Southwest or Southeast. The NBA puts Louisiana in the Southwestern division in the Western Conference, however Louisiana is actually in the Southeast region of the U.S.

Answer: Brown Pelican

The Brown Pelican is featured on Louisiana's state seal. The Brown Pelican was adopted as Louisiana's state bird on July 27,1966.
