Answer: The Summer Olympic sailing events

When Montreal held the 1976 Summer Olympics, Kingston was chosen for the sailing events, it is still considered one of the finest sailing facilities in the world.

Some prisoners escaped through the "privies" or outhouses, but were rounded up. Some former POWs have returned to show their families where they were accommodated during the war.
