Vinson Massif rises 16,860 feet (5,140 meters) above sea level. It's located on the west side of the continent, just southwest of the Edith Ronne Ice Shelf.

There is much indefinite discussion as to whether the Southern Ocean encircles Antarctica or whether the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian touch Antarctica. In any event the Arctic Ocean certainly doesn't.

Mt. Erebus on Ross Island is Antarctica's largest active volcano. It spews up volcanic rock from time to time. Its peak is 12,447 ft (3,794 m) above sea level.

Answer: -135.8 degrees F

This temperature surpassed the previous record of -128.6 F recorded at the Vostok Station in 1983.
