Answer: Autonomous region

Being autonomous gives the look of independent rule. While that is true to an extent, the PRC still has final authority. It is one of five autonomous regions in China.
7. Geographically, Tibet can be divided into three areas. Which is not one of those regions?

Answer: The Mountain Area

The Northern Plateau covers one million square kilometers. The Outer Plateau Arc ranges from Baltistan to Xining and covers 3,500 square kilometers. These two areas are home to the vast nomadic peoples of Tibet. The River Gorge Country is only 1/10th of the total Tibetan area, but is the most fertile with trees, grass and other areas that farm well.
8. What river area is considered the cradle of Tibetan civilization?

Answer: Shannan

The Shannan is considered the birthplace. However, Tibet is the source of the Indus, Yangtze, Salween and Mekong rivers as well as several smaller rivers.
9. What is the name of the mountain range on Tibet's southern border?

Answer: Himalayas

The Gobi is the desert north of Tibet, the Urals separate Europe from Asia and the Alps are in Europe. Mt. Everest, as well as K2, are the highest of the peaks while Everest is the world's highest.
10. The Great Wall extends to Tibet's eastern border.

Answer: False

The Great Wall falls well short of Tibet. When the wall was built, it was built to defend from northern attacks. King Gesar, the most legendary of Tibetan kings, extended Tibet's empire well into China's western section, even past Chengdu. An alliance by marriage created peaceful neighbors.
