Cheyenne is the capital of Wyoming and the county seat of Laramie County. It is located in the south-eastern corner of the state.

John A. Campbell was the first governor of Wyoming Territory and he was sworn in around April 1869. Two days later the Wyoming Territory was established and Cheyenne was chosen as its capital.

Construction of the Wyoming State Capitol building also commenced in 1869 in Cheyenne, but it would be around 20 years later that Wyoming would become a state. Wyoming was accepted into the nation in 1890.
2. Gannett Peak is the highest mountain of Wyoming. Part of it lies in the county of Fremont, Wyoming. What other county of Wyoming does it lie on?

Gannett Peak is approximately 13,800 feet high. It is the highest peak of the Rocky Mountains that is not in the state of Colorado. The Gannett Glacier is the largest known glacier of the Rocky Mountains.

Convicted serial murderer Mark Allen Hopkinson was born in Evanston. In 1992, he became the first person to be executed in Wyoming since the 1960s.
