1. I'm looking at a large hill in the center of a city. A famous temple to a Greek goddess sits atop of it. In what city am I?

Answer: Athens

I am talking of course about the Parthenon on the acropolis in Athens. The Parthenon was built in honor of the city's patron goddess Athena in the year 432 B.C.
2. I am gazing at a very puzzling palace where at one time a terrible beast is said to have lived. Where am I?

Answer: Crete

Crete is home to many famous faces including King Minos, Icarus, and Theseus. The terrible beast I mentioned was the Minotaur a half-man half-bull that guarded the labyrinth a giant maze built in the palace at Crete.
3. This large city has a tower known for its white color. It was built by the Ottoman Empire to house their Janissaries. Where am I?

Answer: Thessaloniki

This tower is known as the White Tower, or Lefkos Pyrgos, and is located in Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece.

Answer: Kalamata

Kalamata is the birthplace of both the kalamata olives and the dance the kalamatiano. Kalamata olives are very popular in Greek salads and the kalamatiano (where dancers form a circle or meandering line) is one of the most popular of the Greek folk dances.

Answer: Rhodes

This statue was known as the Colossus and was built by the Rhodians to honor the sun god Helios. Even after the Colossus was destroyed by an earthquake the Rhodians left it there until the Turks stole the remains and salvaged it for scrap metal.

Halkidiki is a region in northern Greece which is made up of three peninsulas which are also known as 'legs'. On the weekends a lot of nearby Thessaloniki locals travel to either the first or second leg of Halkidiki to relax on their beautiful beaches. The third leg, Mt Athos is full of monasteries and is forbidden to women.

Answer: Kozani

Kozani is in northern Greece. Sparta, Kalamata, and Tripolis are all in the Peloponnese in Southern Greece. Peloponnese is a large peninsula and the southernmost point of mainland Greece.

Answer: Thermopylae

Thermopylae was the site of the famous battle in 480 BC of the 300 Spartans against the massive opposing Persian forces led by Xerxes I.

Answer: Meteora

Meteora is located on the edge of the Plain of Thessaly in central Greece and has six monasteries dating back to the 12th century. Mt Olympus is the largest mountain in Greece. Agios Oros is the third leg of Halkidiki and although they also have many monasteries they are for the most part built on regular ground and Volos is a city near Meteora.

Answer: Lamia

Lamia is on the mainland. Karpathos, Kos, and Kassos are all in the Dodecanese which comprises a group of twelve large islands and about 150 small ones off the southwest coast of Turkey.
